I have two different heads. One has a sending unit in the front on the left hand side, the other has nothing at all. Witch one is correct for 1929. Thanks

In 1929 the water temperature electric sending unit was mounted in the front left side of the cylinder head.

They both may be. The '29 head has both intake and exhaust valves of the same size. The water temperature gauge sending unit is located in the left front side near the water outlet. If one of your heads does not have any provision for a temperature guage it might be a later produced replacement which were supplied beginning in '29 and up to the 40s. Casting number on the head should be 835503. If it is 836273 then it is a '30-31 head.
