I have 3 six cylinder engine blocks. On two of them ,where the water pump bolts on. you can see the round part of the cylinder, On the other one there is a flat plate covering the circular hole. Are these two different styles or are the two blocks missing that flat circle that cover that hole.

Sounds like two of the engine blocks are missing the round water pump baffle plate.

What are the casting numbers on the engine blocks?

:) wink

Two of your engine blocks are 1929 and the third one is 1930.

Yes, the plates can be replaced and you can get them from the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon.

Let me guess 1389298 is from 1930
Here is the answer to my other question. I found it at the filling station
WATER PUMP BAFFLE PLATE This plate is installed in the block behind the water pump and is necessary for proper water pump efficiency. Many times this piece is rusted out or missing. Check it each time the water pump is removed!

Blocks # 1 and # 3 are early 1929 cast in April (D) but according to my records those serial numbers were assembled in February 1929. Is it possible that the D is actually a B?

The number 2 block is an early 1930 cast on November 25th 1929 (K 25 9) and assembled in December. At least this one matches my records.

Thanks Chipper. Pretty sure it says (D) but I can recheck later or tomorrow when I go out to the shop. Another question. How much clearance should there be between the crank and the main bearing caps. Thanks again.

The mains should be 0.001" to 0.0025" clearance. Any more than 0.003" will result in thump if in center, oil leaks if rear.
