With a good charged battery how many amps should my guage be reading. I know on my Chevelle 14.5 is the magic number. At idle I'm reading about +10 and at running speed it stays about +18-19, am I getting too much or should I not worry about it.
Gotta make a good showing tomorrow with all the F cars, but I'm feeling quite confident.

If you have the original 943-J generator the max. charging rate when hot should be 12 amps at about 30 MPH.After about 50 MPH it will be a bit less. The volts will be 7.6....When cold the amps will be a bit higher. To reduce the amps adjust the third brush.
Don't worry about the constant charging,it will not harm the battery and the battery should not require water for at least 1000 miles of constant driving.

Correction, 14.5 volts....my bad. Thanks guys at least I won't worry about that tomorrow, but I will adjust the third brush to spec.
