After reading a string here and viewing the item on eBay I wondered how someone would go about re-moving the hardware on a wing wing in order to re-chrome it.
How would someone get the hardware off of the glass and how would you re-attach it?
Was it just a pressure fit with a gasket material (cork maybe?) or was the hardware 'glued' onto the glass somehow?
Did the glass have dated data embossed on or in it or was it just plain laminated glass?
Has anyone here ever done this or had it done?
Thanks.

Which wind wings are you referring to? Open or close car? Chevrolet or replacement?

I could be mistaken but I believe those wind wings are for a closed car. They look like the ones I had on our 31 Sport Coupe. The way I removed the hardware was using a wood block and a hammer and drove the hardware off the glass. I layed the block on the glass and drove it straight pushing the hardware off. There were no markings on the original glass and I replaced it with safety glass. It did not break.

Any good glass shop can remove and replace the glass in the accessory wind wings (draft deflectors), whether they are aftermarket or OEM. :)

Thanks guys, JYD, I would like to do the work myself, if I find some. Back Roads did you use any liquid to help get the hardware off? I am looking for some of these for my closed car ('32 cabriolet).
Is the original glass safety glass or not? When I have seen these at shows the glass looks like it has 3 layers.

Gator. You need to go through your literature to see if there were accessory wind wings for a cabriolet. :)

Probably not since he never "studies" his 1932 Chevrolet literature as part of his homework assignment.
