How would you describe the shift rod that connects to the transmission and the shift box on the colum for first and reverse. The book shows a straight rod.If the rod is straight i know where my problem lies.Right now depressing the cluch shifts the truck from neutureal to first. It apears tht its being pushed back by the clutch fork.

Hey M.T. How the heck ya doin.Thats the same pic i was looking at in the shop manual wich doesnt show the lower bends very well.Ive been messing around with the lincage hanging up in first and reverse for longer than i care to admit[2years]Park where i dont have to back up and start in 2nd gear.Or put it in reverse ,shut it off ,get out open hood, shift to 2nd by hand.Id ajusted ,reajusted and recently replaced every thing on the colum includeing the shift box.Adjusted to specs ,reajusted and cussed alot.It wasnt till i had someone depress the clutch with the shifter in neuteral while underneath that i saw the clutch fork would ride agaiunst the lincage shifting it in to first. The botom bends seemed ok but removal showed the straight part bent in 2 places.Il find out tomorrow but it shifts great in the shop anyhow.

My truck now shifts perfectly.I had previously replaced the bushings and ajusted everything to specs. My problem with the shifter hanging up was caused by the first and reverse rod being bent.Hope this helps others.Ron
