I need to order parts for a 3 speed transmission in my 42 Chevy coupe and would like to verify the correct year and model. T250906 is stamped on the front side of the case. Any suggestions on where to find gears and yokes?

auto Have you tried ebay? There are several transmission parts such as shafts, etc., quite often on the '38 Chevy site which I use for my Home Page. Just go to the ebay automobile site and click on parts for Chevrolets. When that comes up, search for '41 parts. Also, there are many places that deal in used parts such as Ida's. Just Google antique car parts. Beamer

Try your parts houses, especially NAPA. Lots of those transmission parts were used up into the '80s. Two years ago I bought the clutch shaft, tail shaft, syncro and cluster plus bearings from parts houses locally in Shreveport.

The 1941-48 Chevrolet passenger car transmissions were all the same...1940 had a few minor differences...ChevyB- will have all the parts that you need....bwbugay@aol.com

the casting number on a 1941-48 case is not shown in the parts book. Its the raised numbers,,,would begin with 591 plus 3 more numbers. The number stamped into th case on a 1942 would begin with a B is its the original unit...begin with an A for 1941, a D in 46,E in 47 and F in 1948...the numbers that follow are month - numbers which repeat each year. The numbers would be stamped into the left side of the case-in front of the cover. If that where you found your number it does not translate to anything.

A typical 1942 number would read like BG-9101 -would translate to 1942 built in Sept 9,1941.
