Jumping ahead , the kit came for the roof on the car .I ordered it early even though I'm no where near ready but thought it might help to shed some light on putting it all together . Now for instructions ? It came with a coil of fabric trim which I would assume goes around the outside , but when I ordered it I also ordered the metal for around the outside . Do I need both ? Ivan

I am not sure that I fully understand your question. The 1934 cars had a metal "band" that held down the outter edge of the top material. The "band" had nails ATTACHED to it as well as studs in the corners (necessary to drop headlining to gain access to nuts on bottom of studs)....This metal "band" is not available and I would s assume the coil of fabric trim that they sent you is the hidem used to replace the original "band".

Right . All my roof wood was missing when I got the car as was the metal band that would hold the fabric down . When I ordered the kit from the Filling station they also had the metal in the catalog so I ordered it too . Fabric came last week with the Hidem ,but no instructions . The metal was back ordered along with some other stuff . So the Hidem or the metal strips serve the same purpose ? Ivan

I don't know how they would get the strips. Its different for every body style from the 1935 Standards on back to 1930.I have never seen it as available.I would contact them and get their story. Will look thru my HC catalog tonight.

I can find nothing in the H.C catalog about the metal strip (called crown moulding)....I do see that their top kit contains what they call "sbustitute wireon/or hidem welting to replace the original worn out mouldings" (crown mouldings)...From what I have seen they give you the hidem ,its tacked down and then folded over to hide the tacks or nails. Is far from original, sticks up too high, but there is no other substitute that I have seen. Do you have the picture/instructions shown in the Fisher Body manual, showing replacing the top material?

Ok , they emailed me 4 pages of instructions . I have the Fisher manual but its not real clear. The instructions from the F.S. are much better. What is the H C catalog ? Ivan
