My 1970 Chevelle build sheet includes the words, "G R BROWN CO CAR" below the list of options. Does this mean the car was ordered specifically as a company car? Would G R Brown be a manager of the dealership? I'd like to get as much history from the car as possible. Thanks.

I saw thousands of build sheets during my 34 years in an assembly plant and don't remember seeing a persons name on the build sheet. My guess would be that your vehicle was built for a company exceutive who worked in the plant in which your vehicle was built. Top level executives were furnished with a vehicle to drive. They were usually driven until they had three to four thousand miles on them. Once the mileage was reached the vehicle was offered for sale to other employees or sent to an auction and the executive received another vehicle. GM furnished these vehicles for compensation and the people driving them would also know what kind of quality was being built at the assembley plants.

The build sheet for my 1970 has no name on it. The car shipper has the name of the dealer it was shipped to. It was shipped from Lordstown, Ohio. It must have been a demonstrator for the dealer. There is a note on the shipper that it had 02094 miles on it when purchased. Have a nice day.
