Anyone else watching the B/J auction?

I found this interesting on Monday night:

A red frame off restoration of a '69 mustang convertible with a big motor went for $22,000 and a frame off '69 HT Camaro Z28 went for almost $80,000...quite a difference between the two '69s.

I don't know Ken....I might trade the Camaro for the Mess-tang and pocket the $58 grand, until I could find an almost perfect Camaro for $25000 and trade the Mess-tang in on it! That way I would have my Camaro and $55 grand to put into my portfolio!

I have not owned a F0rd since high school when I had a '55 coupe, but a frame off perfect red '69 mustang convertible for $22k seemed like a 'steal' for some F0rd lover.

Maybe I should make my '69 Camaro SS big block into a Z28....LOL.

Yes, quite a difference between the two 1969 cars noted.

And likely rightfully so. However, not just because one is a F o r d and the other is a Chevrolet. But mainly because they're likely two very different cars.

Presumably the Mustang is a "generic" convertible. (Of course "he" didn't tell us this.) Had the Camaro been a "generic" Camaro, rather than a Z-28, it likely would have gone for considerably less.

With the limited info available, it's my thinking the two cars went for about typical "inflated" BJ auction prices. Altho it is also known (or should be if you're in that market) even when comparing similar 69 Camaros and Mustangs, the Camaro will typically bring more money.

Possibly because of the limited info provided initially, Mac's thinking/example is horribly flawed.

The original post is another perfect example of how powerful (and necessary) information is. And accordingly, how foolish one can be when talking/dealing/buying without information/knowledge. Lucky for the guy who started this thread that he was only "talking" and not "buying."

Bill.

Even down under the GMH product will be 2 years older than the F*** but cost the same in $$$, this has happened for 15 or so years. The GMH will also need less repairs before he puts it on the yard.
