JYD, you could drive the prices down by flooding the market with all of your mirror-clocks.
I emailed the seller yesterday and asked if the clock worked and he said "no, the spring is broken..." so in addition to the $350 now the buyer will have to get the clock fixed and the mirror redone also...
There was no "buy it now" price on the item yesterday, I guess he got an offer he couldn't refuse...so he closed the auction early. I was interested in seeing how high it would go...wonder if it would have gone higher.
I don't think I will ever be able to get one unless I get very lucky somewhere, somehow...

Louis,
I hope you do get lucky someday (finding a mirror-clock that is). And if you do, send some of that luck my way for I am looking for a plain old rear view mirror that will fit a '31-'32 Landau Phaeton or a Cabriolet.

Guys, I bought the mirror yesterday morning. I had seen and asked about the mirror the day before and asked if he would be putting a buy now on I mentioned no price if he did. Later that night before bed a buy now of $350 was on ebay and I choked. I figured to let it go but over the night I thought about it and had never seen one for sale at Hershey or Carlisle in 30 years of going so I decided to buy it. A guy I know near me fixes clocks so I was not worried about that. One year at Hershey I saw an item for my 1932 Chevy for sale from someone I knew and tried to help on their car. The price was about $300 more than I felt I should pay but I would have liked to get it and offered him $150 less than what he was asking which was a very fair price. He said he would think about it and not to worry we could work something out. I stopped back later in the day and he had talked to someone and now wanted $100 more than he originally wanted. I decided not to buy it. I know it was still for sale afew days after that. From my perspective..nobody is giving anything away.

32 Confederation, Do you know what the mirror/bracket look like for your car? I could send you a picture of mine on a 31 landau phaeton (hope it's original).

Doug, I have no idea what the mirror bracket looked like unfortunately, there wasn't one on the car prior to restoration. I can tell you that the rear view mirror bolts through the upper sash channel. Everything in this area was chrome (nickel) plated, I'd be surprised if the rear view mirror bracket was anything but. The rear view mirror in my possession was purchased through the restoration shop. They bought a rear view mirror from the FS in 2005 but it looks like it would mount on the dash or front roof rail of a closed car (the shop knew less about a 32 LP than I do now, I think). Please do send me a photo if you have one. At least then I would know what it is I should be looking for!

Chip, If you have an extra rear view mirror bracket for a '31-'32 LP, fantastic! That could be exactly what I am looking for. If that is so; then I must have all the luck and I should be passing some of it along to Louis C. in his quest for a mirror-clock.

If you need more pics I can send you some from my '32 cabriolet if you need them.
Make sure the luck you send is good luck because I think I have enough of the bad luck stuff already, LOL.

I could use the pics of your 32 Cabriolet.
Good luck you can wish for your friends and good luck is all I have to offer you.
Bad luck is sticky - it general sticks with you until it is all used up. I can only hope that the bit of good luck I extend is more than the little bit of bad luck you think you may have left.

Mike, I will try to take the pics today if my camera has gotten charged back up.
There is a picture from the anniversary meet here on Chatter of the bracket. I will try to take some close ups.
