I just ran across an auction about 150 miles from my place with a whole lot of grove cars and plan on going there for the auction tomorrow. Probably most are rusted out but they do have a 1930 chev on the list. If the rear fenders are O.K. would they fit my '31 coupe? They also have a '50 coupe listed and would like to know what a banjo steering wheel looks like and if the '50's came with that? Thanks, jerrygolf

You can put '30 rear fenders on a 1931, but they are not the same fender!  :( :( :(

don't believe any of the 49-52 chevys were offered with banjo steering wheels.believe they were a product of the 40's. mike

Thanks jp, Already contacted him. Just got back from the sale and that's what they were, grove cars. When they pulled them out of the grove of trees, half of each car stayed there in a pile of rust. The '31 had no fenders and the '50 had no motor and all rusted out by the feet. Must of had about 25 old hit and miss engines and everything was going sky high. He bought a suitcase about 40 yrs. ago with a 1921 calander in it still in the plastic for $1.00 and the calander went for $1,200. A lot of bowls and dishes in the $100 range. Oh well, I found a few bargins and spent a whole $25.00. Really had a fun day.

That brings new meaning to time is money  A calendar for $1,200 just goes to show you people will buy anything. I sure would have loved to have one of those hit and miss engines. Too bad about the 31 though. At least you had fun

I have a JD 1 1/2 horse hit & miss I bought for $20 forty years ago and the one on the sale went for $640. The Maytag motor I bought for $20 12 yrs. ago were going for $75. Oh well, there's a sale tomorrow 21 miles from here with a '42 chev business coupe on it so will go see what that goes for. Suppose to be restorable. I might get lucky and get it cheap. Would save it for one of the grand kids. Hate to see it go to the crusher. Have to get back in time for Browerville Days though which started today. Tomorrow is the big evening.
