My '32 amp shows about +10 almost constantly. As headlights are turned on the amp meter shows about -2. Question: Is there any danger here of over charging battery or discharging battery while driving at night??

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Your generator is doing just fine so leave it alone. However, you can increase the charge a couple of amps by adjusting the third brush in the generator if you wish. Ten to twelve amps charge is where it should be, but I wouldn't touch it at this point. laugh laugh laugh laugh yipp

Yes to both questions. If you feel that you are over charging just run with the headlights on during the day time. Once the generator makes up for the current used by the starter it begins to over charge. You will see black residue on top of cell caps and the battery will loose water if over charged.

It will take many hours but the headlights can run down the battery if the drain is more than generator can produce. DO NOT TRY TO GET MORE THAN 12 AMPS FROM 29-34 GENERATOR. You will cook the armature.
