Describe your steering column and I will try to help. What I really need to know is where are the spark and throttle controls located. (Sometimes a 1926, for example, is not a 1926) {What to h--- is that guy saying?} They could be on top of the column, under the steering wheel or on the dash. Each steering column is different.

Hi Ray,because this is in pieces i'm not 100% sure but i beleive the controls mount under the steering wheel. At this time the only things i can identify are the steering shaft and outer collar i dont know if there should be a bearing on the shaft. The picture in the manual is very incomplete.

OK, on that configuration there is a bushing in the top of the steering column that has the horn wire attached. You will have a very simple shaft from the steering wheel hub down to and inside the steering box. The horn wire will exit the steering column at either the top through a hole or at the bottom through a hole.

I seem to have some sort of fiber bushing with a copper or tin piece at one end it looks like there may have been a wire attached at one time, could you tell me where i might be able to find a picture of the bushing you are talking about. ![[Linked Image from i28.photobucket.com]](http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c249/bubbles955/unknown.jpg) Is this it?

That is the bushing and you only need to attach the wire to it and run it down and out of the column. Arvid has provided some excellent pictures that show the detail of the wire.

Yes, a complete steering column from a -28 will work. But why not use the original -26 column? Arvid http://www.chevroletnorge.com

Thanks Arvid the reason i thought about the 1928 column is because the 1926 column is dismantled and not by me and because this type of restoration is new to me i'm not sure i can put it back together
