I'm beginning to put together a 1966 C-10 LB truck I just picked up. My question to the group is: My truck currently has a 283 with a 3 on the column, and I have a 350 from a previous project with a built TH350 trans that I plan on swapping into the truck. I don't want an aftermarket floor shifter, and locally 64-66 auto columns are hard to find. I've heard that a 67-70 column is a bolt in with maybe a few wiring issues. Is this correct? I have access to this kind of column, but before I make a big effort to get one, I want to know it should work. Any help is appreciated.

I think a automatic steering column from a 1959-60 Chevrolet passenger car will work.

If the column from the 67-72's will work you can also use a tilt column from the late 70's Chevy vans. There's a few minor mods you have to do, mostly at the gearbox end, but their simple.
There was an article about doing it a few months back in "Custom Classic Trucks". I'm not such if that's the right magazine though, I read so many of the things.
