Need to convert my stock wiper motor to electric 12 volt. Anyone done this with salvage yard parts? Kits are very expensive.1950 chevy

I have been told, don't know for a fact...that late 70's F0RD products will work.

I have no reason to change, vacuum works when maintained ,also have a dual action fuel pump if things get worse, what I don't like is the cable & drum system from 53 to 56 or 57, Don't see any problems with the arms used from 49 - 52, except that the wipermotor is way up there under the dash.

I agree with Mr. Mack. If you rebuild the vacuum wiper motor and get the dual action fuel pump (provides vacuum while you are accelerating or climbing hills) you will have all the advantages of the two speed electric without the fuss and bother of converting it, plus you will have finer speed control.

The problem is that I haved changed the engine to a 350 chevy and it only has a single stage fuel pump. I am not sure how well the wipers will work with this setup.

You probably will find a better answer over at ChevyTalk where those guys that modify Chevrolets from original congregate.
