Vin. tag is located on passenger side front door jam. The forward jamb. The side with the hinges connect with the front of the car.

Originally from the factory they used two of those screws that have the oval slot in them. I cant remember what they called them??? Do you know which ones I mean?

chef........if I can get to my 48 in the next day or two, I'll take a look to see how the tag is attached....no garantees, but I'll try. I still think roofing nails would work :grin:

2- #5 Clutch head screws. 1/4" long. That IS the O.E. fastener.

Just checked my '48 Cabriolet and the plate is attached by two clutch head screws as described above. I'd like to see a picture of Scott's 48 Cabriolet mentioned above. Tell me how...

To see the photo of that 48 cabriolet go to the 37-42 forum; open the "1941 Sort Sedan" topic by bullpup; open his website listed in the message; scroll down until you see a series of buttons; click on the one named "CLASSIC CARS"; then click on button #6 and scroll all the way to the bottom to see the 48.
