I've been poking around the new site for a while, Bill. So far it seems very good. The speed is absolutely stupendous. I've still got to get used to some of the new features, but we'll all get used to them in time (and have fun doing it).

Absolutely beautiful job Bill !!!

yay :cool2:

Excellent work, Bill.
But we should have some nice cheer-leaders to support us. Why not convert some of your dancing bananas into some female ones with necessary equipment?

If you do, we could go through the long winter in Norway without turning complete bananas!!!!!

As I stated, the NEW VCCA chat site is GREAT. Thanks to all of you who developed it.

And I am sure it will continue to improve and offer members additional value and opportunities. Well, that's if it's marketed correctly. Which currently it is not.

I believe as it is currently developed, {& marketed} it's a free service to NON-PAYING folks. While that is a very nice gesture, and maybe even altruistic, it has a negative effect on the VCCA Brand and Value.

VCCA Chat should only be available to paying members. And if they do not want to pay as a full time member then chat should be offered at $20.00 p/year {+-}. Sort of a menu of available VCCA services. Which in todays marketplace is a well accepted and profitable arrangement.

The additional money could be used to continue upgrading chat and marketing it as a fun site with tremendous value. Offering it for free, lowers this value.

I like the new chat area but I am having trouble reading the smaller type. Being in gray doesn't help either. I have tried everything I know to increase the type size and make it darker but nothing seems to work. Being an old guy, bifocals and all that, I need all the help I can get. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve these two things on my computer? Thanks.

If you have Windows XP you can go into the control panel and under "Appearance & Themes" change the resolution of the monitor, lower resolution gives larger type but cuts down the field of view.
You may be able to do some font size changeing in "My Stuff" other than that I guess you could buy one of them huge screen monitors.

The VOTE VOTE VOTE banner and message is neat, Bill.

Bill, I hope that only you as the Administrator can do that.......otherwise it looks like a good way to insert an advertisement......hmmmm commercials??? crazy flush :o

How about "Join the VCCA" campaign sometime in the future?

How's that for a marketing idea, Mike41?

Thanks Mr. Mack. I do have Windows XP but did not want to fool around with anything there as that would affect the whole computer. I did take your suggestion and go into "My Stuff". I found a different display that, while it does not increase the type size, it does make it appear in black instead of gray. The postings are much easier to read now. Thanks for the info. Stuart

Beamer,
I saw your note the other day and I worked on a solution for almost three hours last night. I'm building a new style sheet that will have darker characters on it. Also, the font size will be larger.

I don't know if I'll get it done before this weekend, but if I do, I'll let you know and you can be the first to try it.

newangelBill, Fantastic! The more I use the new site, the better I like it. I did change my style sheet after Mr. Mack told me to look into "My Stuff" and that has helped a lot. Larger type will be great but I wish you would not take up so much of your own time working on all this. You have to know there are hundreds of people who appreciate all you are doing and we certainly are greatful for it, particularly in view of what your salary must be!!!! Stuart

Oops.. you guys are too fast for me.... I might suggest that you only use style sheets that have -bb appended to the end of them. Those are the ones that I've modified to fit our format. I wasn't going to point out this feature for a few more weeks until I had a couple more style sheets up and running. snore

You may have noticed, however, that I did sneak one additonal sheet into production -- I'm using it for this forum only. Notice that it's slightly darker and the text is a little different.

Anyways, this is the fun part of the assignment. Along with including the VOTE "elements" so that they always show up as the second item in different forums. ha! (someone rightly asked whether this was a precursor to future advertising.... hummmm... so perceptive!!) idea

And yes, I haven't had a pay raise for running Chat since I started five years ago... There's been suggestions that my pay be doubled. That sure sounds good, until you do the math.

2 times $ 0.00 equals $ 0.00 !!!! bigl chevy bigl

This "job" is entirely voluntary. You see, a lot of people are still undecided as to whether this whole internet thing will catch on or not!! togo Ha Ha... Therefore we don't want to be too hasty...

DID EVERYONE VOTE? You get the kind of club that you vote for. Nuff said. See you at the Post Office!! Good day.

MrMack, I knew anyone could copy and paste an image to a post, I was talking about the VOTE VOTE VOTE "advertisement" that appears as the second post on every page. See Bill Barker's post above mine.

I'll bet only Bill can do that!!!

I really like the new board. Great job !

One question, hopefully not raised by someone else - on the old board, all the forums with new posts since my last visit, were highlighted and I could skim through and read the latest posts. Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see any similar feature on the new board. Is there any thought to adding it ??

Please note, this is NOT a criticism, as I know a ton of effort went into the change. I'm just asking the question.
Thanks,
-Bob

The next time you check in click on the little fellows back as he sits at his computer. Now as you scroll down from the top notice the light bulbs that are lit to indicate the new posts. As soon as you finish with each post and leave it the light goes out.
