Hey Skip

Wish that I was coming along with you and the guys on this years JYD Tour. What is it that I hear you are now letting some of the Ladies on the tour? Its it so they can help carry all the goodies back to the truck or just someone to carry the beer and get the pizza?
Happy hunting form Downunder.
Say hi to all the guys and I hope that the Oregon sunshine is warm and not wet.

Hey Dave!

We just returned from this year's adventure, and we missed you and I'm sure that you would have had a great time! Yes, there were two ladies on this year's annual JYD adventure.......and they were extremely helpful too! They drove two of the vintage cars (a 1960 Chevrolet and a 1967 Camaro respectively) that carried the Junkyard Puppies to each tour destination. The local car club, the Joyriders, provided the cars that chauffeured the Junkyard Dogs and their puppies to each tour stop and they did a great job! These two ladies and their cars were more than welcome and they deserve a big "thanks" for helping us out because without them we would have been short on cars. yipp

The annual adventure this year was great! There were a total of 27 attending (that count also includes the vintage car drivers from the Joyriders, and those that helped with this year's tour). The lead car was a really cool red 1954 Chevrolet convertible and it carried the JYD's. The weather was absolutely perfect and so was the scenery. We found lots of vintage Chevrolets scattered around the Klamath Falls area too! Our tour leader, John "Air Force" Fields did a fantastic job organizing this advent and his choice of tour stops (which included a great wrecking yard by the way) was excellent. The food was great too, and on Friday night the whole gang, including the ladies, met for pizza and beer. Many of those attending the pizza party had the draft beer of their choice with their pizza yipp laugh laugh laugh laugh

Okay dudes! "Grumpy" from Kearns, Utah just sent in this photo of the Junkyard Dogs on tour. The photo was taken on 10-18-03 while the JYD tour group was waiting to enter the Potato Festival Parade in Merrill, Oregon (population 837) which was part of the two-day JYD Adventure itinerary.

Behind the wheel is John "Air Force" Fields who was the tour leader and the main-man instrumental in making this two day tour possible. In the front, passenger side is yours truly, Skippy Doodle, the old JYD himself. In the rear seat, passenger side, is Moron Mikey (the other JYD) doing what comes naturally........being a Moron! Next to him, and directly behind "Air Force", is Harley Dude Joe. The car is a dandy 1954 Chevrolet convertible with a continental kit, and the car is owned by John Fields. He has owned the car for some 20 years or more. The '54 rag top was used as the official lead tour car for this year's two day JYD Adventure. auto auto auto

Hey Grumpy! Thanks for posting the great photos for the rest of the dudes to see. That is greatly appreciated! Next year for our annual adventure we will make you the official digital photographer! Ya!

As an update on some of the photos that Grumpy posted, the 1939 coupe pickup was found in a private collection in downtown Klamath Falls, and this vehicle is only one of several dozen high quality cars owned by Harold Heaton of Heaton Steel.

The 1960 (corrected) Chevrolet and the 1967 SS Camaro were two of the cars used by the Joyriders to haul around the 16 Junkyard Puppies that attended this year's annual event. The photos of these two cars were taken while in line up formation for the Potato Festival Parade in Merrill, Oregon. By the way, the same owners (a husband and wife team) of the 1967 Camaro SS Coupe also own a matching 1967 Camaro SS Convertible as well, and both cars were on tour the previous day. The coupe is "her" car, and the convertible is "his" car. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Just to keep the record straight, the black 2-Door Sport Coupe is a 1960 and not a 1961.

Will be posting some of my selections later from the 104 pictures that I took on the tour.

Before you start any adventure you must eat.

Although this is a modern wrecking years some interesting projects are still available.

In addition to several nice cars this collector had an abundance of petro memorabilia.

Nice pumps.

[Linked Image from home.comcast.net]

Just arrived from Finland a nice 2 ½.

Slight delay in the tour while John (Tour Leader) tightens loose lug nuts. (Among the items NOT in the trunk was the lug wrench).

This is my driver and ride. Sherill did an excellent job of piloting me around on the tour.

In excess of 27 cars in this collection, to include a back row of one each of all the examples of the full size convertibles that are discontinued.

Hey Raymondo! Thanks for posting additional photos for the Chevy dudes to view of our latest JYD adventure. That was an excellent selection. HOWEVER, I must take issue with you on one of the photos. First, on the photo of me supposedly taking a nap, you captured my bad side, not my good side! I have always told you that when taking a photo of me, always take the front view, not the back view because the front view is a little more flattering even though sometimes it is difficult to tell the front from the back.

Second; I really wasn't taking a nap. Actually, I was just checking out a Box Elder bug that was crawling on the floor (the bug can be seen in the photo just to the left of my nose) since this type of bug is one of my favorite appetizers right before pizza and beer. luv2 Turned out to be a darned cricket though, and I hate crickets with a passion! They taste awful!!! :( :( :( :(

Sorry, I labeled two of the photos wrong... I just knew it would happen! I couldn't remember the year of the black chevy, even though I asked (and recieved detailed answers and explainations several times)!

Also, the truck in the field is a '38, the '37 I typed was a subliminal slip. I'm disappointed that I wasn't corrected on this point, you guy's are starting to slip! I saw it from the road (in Nevada) and couldn't resist taking a closer look. It's not mine, but I would like to have a big back yard like that!

I agree they are good photos and I thank all who posted them.
I especially noted the 37 /38 1 ton, the turret is totally different to the aus design. Ours are more rounded with 3 ribs running front to rear although the hood area (by what I can see) is the same.
The tour cars look to be nearly as interesting as some only seen at the various locations. I will try to get an apropriate photo of my 38 and 39 posted for comparison shortly.
Look forward to more photos. dance

Here are the rest of the dudes that Raymondo had question marks for. Left to right, starting where Raymondo left off:

Harley Dude Joe (Ruell) - Eagle Point, Oregon

Moron Mikey (Stanley and he is also the other JYD) - Medford, Oregon

Ronnie The Rascal (Quadros) - Medford, Oregon

And seated directly behind John's star hat is Hi Roller Al (Erickson) - Central Point, Oregon

Now you have all of the dudes that were shown in the photo!
