I'd be interested in hearing what some of the things this organization does at its national events that we might want to consider.

The National Monte Carlo Owners Association (NMCOA) has 1 annual event: The Monte Nationals/Convention. The event is for NMCOA members only. It is always "officially" held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I say "officially" because many members start to arrive on Thursday to reunite with their friends.

The Monte Nationals are not held in the same location each year. Last year, we were in Nashville TN.... this year we are in Elyria OH (Just south-east of Cleveland).

We take pride in being a family oriented club. Our activities are planned for both the adults as-well-as the children. A typical schedule of events (without listing times) looks like this:

Friday: 2 Registration/Classification sessions. Depending on the location of the event, a Friday night outing might be planned.

Saturday: Final Registration/Classification, Judging of cars, Clown arrives for the young and young at heart, coloring contest for the children, model car contest for all ages, "timing chain toss" for all ages, "spark plug" contest for the adults, "push rod drop" contest for all ages. We also have door prizes. The same DJ (Doug) has been booked and travels where ever we go every year. Tech demonstration usually conducted by Soffseal or Trim Parts. Saturday evening we sponsor a "Poker Run Road Rally" (no speed or timing involved) that lasts about 1 hour.

Sunday morning we have church services at the hotel provided by our members.... (no special attire necessary or expected)... this service has been getting bigger and bigger each year. At 11AM we begin the awards ceremony that will last about 1 hour.

The awards are also for the children. The coloring contest is judged and plaques are awarded. We also award plaques to top scoring children in the "push rod drop" contest and the "timing chain toss". In addition, last year, all children received a toy/prize to take home.

Then we give the adults their awards for the adult games and also for the Class Winners in the Monte Carlo judging.

We do not have any organized meals or banquets. The entire weekend is casual. Members look forward to seeing their friends and making new friends. Selecting their favorite restaurants and activities is just part of the fun. Of course we always have the "parking lot chair races" in the late evening sharing laughs.
