This doesn't seem to be our month!! Our host provider has put us in a bind where the server that we share with other customers has run out of room... they are working to fix it.

They told me it would take an hour... but that was at 10 am this morning!!!

Be careful what you post... the system may not save it.

Well it's starting to look like they expanded the storage. Took another hour after I called tonight and complained again.

NOTE: I will begin to give you status on a NEW CHAT SITE coming our way... Target date is before the end of the year!!! More info in a few days.

Well it appears that we go squirrely now and again !

No doubt Billy Boy BaRRker has taken the reins into his mouth and is working the gitty-up whip with one hand and shucking shells into the Winchester with the other hand to get this thing back on it's wheels.

But that brings up another of my stupid questions....

What is going on on our Big VCCA Web-site in the sky (VCCA.org) anyway?

I don't mean the small stuff like our domain being expired and being run by an Ex- Board of Directors guy. Now don't get me wrong, I think Vintage James is fully capable of doing the work.

Good grief!... the Board of Directors list hasn't been up dated since sometime in 2005! Do we need to question the members of the Board directly about this issue?

This site and the VCCA.org site are an open window into the very being of VCCA for those that man the keyboards, VCCA members and outsiders that could very well become mMembers alike..

Come on folks let's get our ducks in a row!

I thought that this issue was resolved by the Technological Committee.... am I just experianceing a hot flash , a senior moment.... or what?

I emailed the un-named Webmaster and did receive a message from a person, whom I really don't know and whom isn't listed in the G&D except with the criptic name of webmaster@vcca.org

Your questions are valid... but there is so much email traffic on this topic that I hesitate to post a summary... If I did, my posting would probably be out of date by the time that I finished it. Just tonight, some more traffic... which, once again, raises the possibility of a webmaster being appointed.

But (my editorial comment), realize that having a webmaster isn't going to resolve most of our problems. We don't have the TOOLS to do what we need. The non-existent Membership Database needs to be the core for ALL of our internal electronic processes. Until that happens, we will be using 1990's web technology.

Now, I'll close this discussion and post a second comment back on the original topic.

If you want to continue the discussion Mr Mack, please start a new thread. Thanks.

SITE PROBLEM STATUS:

After 24 hours, this is the answer that our Host Company posted against my trouble ticket.

Quote
This ticket is dealing with an issue that is also being addressed in another, open ticket. We are marking this ticket as 'Solved' in order to avoid confusion and duplication of effort. We realize that your original issue is not yet resolved. We are still addressing this issue, but we are closing this duplicate ticket.

Please see incident <061017-000278> for updates on this situation.

Thank you,
Technical Support
As some of you are aware, there are still intermittent problems. This is what happens when a company adds too many users to the same server.

Hey Bill,

It sounds like they're getting tired of talking to you..... Of course they wouldn't keep hearing your voice if they'd take care of the problem(s). wink wink wink

HA.

Seems like changes might be in order..... yipp

What's with that??

I wonder how much stuff is showing up twice??

It seems like Bill's comment at the end of his recent post is the best "news" yet....

As a retired "businessman" I always hate to see a customer cancel their business, but in this case it seems like the thing to do.....

Also interesting to note at 906pm (PDST) there's just ONE of "us" logged into CC - - ME!!!

Obviously most of us are tired of even trying to fight the situation!!!

Altho the darned thing does seem to be working OK - - RIGHT NOW. Five minutes from now....WHO KNOWS?!?!?!?

I have tried to surf to other forums and things are still not working correctly on Chevy Chatter. I can only get to a few areas and that's it! I am also the only one logged in at this time, so obviously that part of the site isn't working correctly either.

 I have a posting in "Electrical 6 volt" and I tried to reply to someone who posted something to help me. I also got the UBB message re a fatal error. I waited the requisite time and still got the flood protection notice. I tried to add my reply again and got another fatal error. I backed out thinking I would try again in a little while and I lost my entire reply that took me some time to put together!! This has happened to me for the last couple of days. I thought I had screwed up the system!!! It is a relief to know I didn't break it!!! auto

Okay,gang... the host company says that they have fixed our (their!!) problem. Please bang away and post any additional error messages here that you receive.

I need to accept or reject their solution by 11:30 pm Friday night.

Thanks. chevy
