Hi all,
I have been having problems tonight trying to log on to the VCCA homepage. I keep getting a page from "NetWork Solutions" saying that the domain name "vcca.org" has expired as of 10/02/06. I can get to the chat room directly, but can't get to the vcca homepage. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I can assure you, as National Treasurer, that any and all bills that have come in have been paid immediately, as always. This is something else, a Domain Name registration, which may have slipped by whoever is responsible to keep it current (I don't know who that is). I have alerted Bill Barker.

Yes I got the same thing. However, I used the link from the Filling Station, got our home page and saved it to favorites again. It works now.

Has anyone tried talking to James Burns? He has control of the domain names for the VCCA.

FYI I was told that James had a death in the family over the weekend so I would ask not burden him with a phone call now. Bob I would also ask that his phone number be edited from your post, his number can be made available to those who need it if they ask, remember we are not a member only site and it is not fair that we place it for all to see.

James Burnes' grandfather, James O. Burnes, passed away on Sunday, Oct.8th. His funeral is on Thursday, October 12th. If any of you want more information on that, I'll be happy to give it to you.

As for contacting him, I know the web site is an important issue but, lets give James time to handle what has just happened in his life. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help in any way he can. I'll even call him in a few days if you wish.

Thanks,
Elizebeth Williams

Status: The name has expired, even though the official domain records list March 2007 as the Expiration date. Go figure that one out.

Denny O has spent the better part of the last couple of hours trying to get the Domain Registrar to renew our name with no luck. The only person that can accomplish the change that we need is the person that is currently on the authority list.

Looks like we may be offline for a few days.

Well on my computer the link from the filling station worked.
I also just did a search while I'm at work and some of the Google links work. Don't click on anything that is listed as "vcca.org", click on one of the other links.
mmmm...so if we are offline, why am I here????....wierd!

Because we are: https://vccachat.org/ and it is the web site: VCCA.org that is closed down.

Very sorry to hear about others who loose family and friends. Loss is always hard.

But I am puzzled because the domain companies we use send us about 100 notices months prior to any expirations.

Another puzzlement is yesterday a representative from a domain company told me "Someone reenlisted the VCCA.ORG domain name with in the past 24 hours."

So why did this happen ???

My sincere condolences to James Burnes on the passing of a family member.

Let's all give him the proper respect and time for grieving and taking care of family affairs.

All the rest of our problems really don't matter right now, especially since we all seem to be able to get here to our chat site anyway. I'm sure the VCCA site problems will be taken care of in due time.

I agree completely with Ken's comments, including condolences to James Burns.

Afterall, many of us are "here" anyway.

To get "here" I'm just typing vcca chat in my google search thing. Up pops the little guy at the computer, I click on him and I'm in!

Eureka!!!

(But if "you" can't get here I guess you can't read that. Oh well.............)

Bill.

It appears that we still have confusion about what is operating and what is not. VCCA.org is the website that is down. We are on the vccachat.org which does not have the problem.

This situation has the Board's full attention, and there is much activity in trying to resolve the problem.

As Ray says, THIS site (the Chat Site) is vccachat.org, and it is obviously OK and working fine.

The problem concerns the Club's Homepage, or Website. That is where the problem lies. The two are completely separate.
