There was a gas spill that has dried on the carpet of my truck it is in an area that is very difficult to reach and I wanted to know if any of you have a method of neutralizing the lingering smell of gasoline.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

While in some cases they say light a match to get rid of the smell of gas, in this case I would advise against it! laugh

I just couldn't resist that. newangel

Thanks Gene, I cleaned the PM out.

I will try the baking powder, thanks Sonny.

Think I will pass on the match too...lol.

MM, this is a more modern truck...

Baking soda should do it. I recently dumped some gear oil on the CARPET in the back of my S-10 Blazer. I hate the smell of gear oil, just dropped some baking soda in there let it soak the oil up vacumned it did it again and then used some upholstery cleaner on it. Seems to have worked well.

Thanks glyn, I dumped a bunch of baking soda on it yesterday, will leave it for a couple of days and then vacuum it up...and will repeat if needed.

Area is hard to reach for carpet cleaner...

Thanks again.

Glad you went with the baking soda instead of the baking powder. Although the baking powder would have helped it to rise and bake up nice and fluffy in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.

bigl laugh wink
