Lou, We can allways count on you for a new idea.
I take my last years G&Ds and leave them on the car's front seat.

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!

There is a envelope size brochure. I would guess they are available from our Editor Jean Fink.
It is very well written and has an application for membership

Joe, do you know if they will send a member like me a some of them?
Ray, I think maybe the calendar that Jim has created with a little help from the rest of us was the first Chatter project....

Joe, do you know if they will send a member like me a dozen or so of them at a time?
Ray, Now that I think about it maybe the great calendar (that has been approved by the VCCA) that Jim has created with a little help from the rest of us was the first Chatter project....

I sent the 15 members of the BOD with an email address my emails requesting that they vote to approve the Chat Chapter.
A couple of emails were returned as undeliverable...did anyone else have that problem?

I didn't get any undeliverable mail back. Check the addreses again. I think the vote is due by the 6th, according to Joe's time line, if it's not tabled.

So far I count 5, maybe 6 clearly with a "yes" vote. That's not enough to pass. If any of you guys have not emailed a Board Member buy now, I suggest you do it today if ya all want this to be approved. Remember, be nice, be positive, and explain how we can help the VCCA web site and all VCCA members by being an "officially recognized group" known as the "Chat Chapter".

Thanks to all of you that are getting involved to "lobby" on our behalf.
However, I have been asked by one Board Member to ask you guys to lay off the emails asking for a "yes" vote. Another thinks it may be a good idea to let the Board Members talk things out without interuption answering your emails.
You guys make the call. It may not be a bad idea.

ks,
Every time I wrote an email explaining what we wanted to accomplish with the Chat Chapter I included that fact that the international guys need us more than anyone stateside.
Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Membership Recruiting brochure
Yes, contact Jean Fink and she will send them or tell you who to contact to get them. I don't remember why or how, but I always have had them for the past 12 years and I have only been a Board member for two.
Any member can get the Recruitment brochure to use to recruit members

Hi guys. In case your wondering, the Board is currently discussing our Chat Chapter application. A few emails have gone back and forth with very good questions and even better answers. Hang in there, I believe this will be settled very soon. RayG

I sent an email to Jean Fink requesting the VCCA brochures and I got them in the mail today.
Thanks again cordman for the contact information.
The brochures look very nice and do a good job explaining the mission of the club and they will come in very handy at my local car shows.
I think I will write the web sites on the brochures before I pass them out. I guess the web stuff will be added when they are updated in the future.
Thanks again, Jean and cordman.

Yes he does. The vote passed, but yet the motion failed. Don't ask........you probably won't understand it either. I will let Ray post the latest update here. He should be doing it soon. :( :( :(

It's a good idea, BUT it's not....
is that how it goes?
Belay that, I'll just wait and see if I can not understand it myself.
Thanks, and I'll be watching.

To all the Chat Chapter Members,
The Board says we are NOT approved. The Board vote was 8 YES, and 5 NO. 1 abstention, 4 didn't vote.
I first want you to know that all four of your elected Officers put in a long weekend emailing each other back and forth several times. Our conversations were focused on just how the Board figured we lost the vote once given the vote tally. I was told that with 18 Board members, 10 needed to vote YES for it to pass. I still don't understand how the vote works.
Not until late yesterday afternoon, we all but gave up trying to figure this voting process out. The latest email to me today says that our good friend Joe Smith will ask the Board to consider this again at the March meeting. Until then I feel it's a dead issue.
One thing that has the Board split on our Chat Chapter is that some Board Members insist that we are not "vehicle specific" and that's what Non-Geographic Chapters are supposed to be. They have managed to convince other members of the Board to change their otherwise yes vote to a no.
Meanwhile our thoughtfull President, Mike Jones has printed in the October G&D that... "These Non-Geographic Charters will allow you as members under this large umbrella we call the VCCA to make contact with members who have a more specific area of interest. I (Mike) would add to Joe's (Smith) list:literature, tools, dealer items, advertising - the list could go on."...These are our President's words not the Chat Chapter's.
Guys, I think we are cought up in a mix that's about to be turned over. With new thinking people running for the Board, and the willingness of all those that signed on with the Chat Chapter, things could get better. We may have moved a little too soon and too fast for some of the current Board.
In talking with our Pesident elect, JYD, we sort of agreed that we should leave it up to you guys to deceide if you all want to pursue this any further. In otherwords, wait until March. I asked for the return of my check for the filing fee.
My current feelings are that we should wait for this Board to get their act together and deceide just what a Non-Geographic Chapter should be. Given the current make up of the Board that will probaby never happen...Yeah, I'm dissapointed. But I'm more upset when I hear that some of this current Board actually dislikes Chatter enough to see it shut down! Imagine that! Censorship in the good ol'USA?
I've been told that these Chatter pages have done more for the VCCA than any other thing in the past 45 years! What you guys have tried to do was to give it an offspring that offers a club house to hang out in, a place to find a friend, a feeling of belonging to a group, or for the guys that are handicapped, or live too far away, or live in another country.
Like some have said "Chatter is my Region".
Thanks, RayG

Well Boys, now you know how much influence the Chatter has on the national BOD. And the way the by-laws are setup it will take a half century to change anything, assumeing the election goes differently than the last 45 years. That is what the majority of the BOD wants... No rocking the boat!.....NO CHANGES! Your National dues pays for a magazine subscription, and is a required item for membership in a Nationally recognized and controlled Local VCCA Region or event. and that is about it. A (did not vote) is really a NO! Vote, they can call it what they wish!!
