After some months of being pleased about getting my G and D 'early' compared to others and listening to them 'complain' about items being sold before they even see the ad, I find myself in the same boat ("sorry, already sold") re something in the January issue. Very disappointing.

I certainly would vote 'yes' to having the ads on-line in an effort to 'level the playing field.' I don't have the faintest idea about how to go about this, how it would/could be done, 'private/members only' area etc. etc. etc. All I know is, I would vote 'yes' on any method that would let all of 'us' (VCCA members) see the ads at the same time!!

Bill.

We could have two membership rates. One regular membership as we have it now and another to have the G & D mailed to you First Class. It would be the members choice.

I have 2 comments about this
first currently not all chat site members are vcca members and vicea versa not all vcca mebers are on this site were is the fair playing field

second I already pay extra being from outside of the USA and usually wait till the end of the month for my G&D and others from other countries overseas have to wait longer than that mailing out of the USA will still take longer no matter how much shipping is.

I suggust that all of USA mail be sent 2-3 weeks after all out of USA G&D's are sent. this will make a more equal chance that all members get a chance to purchase items from the G&D

Well the view is always different depending upon the side of the pond you are sitting on, Eh?

Of course we also have the situation of an item being for sale for a couple of months before it makes it's first appearance in the G&D and is sold before anyone gets the magazine, then it runs two or three more months. So it really don't make much difference if your magazine comes on time, or a week or month later, for some items that are really in demand, this is something we just have to learn to live with. It just gives us something more to gripe about.....

With the lousy service from the post office, you can't expect a first-class mailing of the G&D to get to your house on time on a regular basis either. More than once I have received media mail faster than I have received first-class or priority mail. With the post office everything is a gamble as to when you will receive your mail. Just ask Kepi Doodle about the arrival of his G&D! bigl bigl bigl

One solution for being able to purchase a long sought item is to place a "Wanted" ad in the G&D. Once published in the G&D, the member can get offers of parts for sale before anyone else. I have had some success with wanted ads as I am sure others also have. Often the calls come before you get your own issue.

Mailing and delivery of the G&D.

The G&D is classified as a "Periodical" and is a Monthly Publication Time-Dated Material.

If you have the better part of a day available to understand the mailing and delivery of the G&D go to: WEB PAGE FOR THE USPO

Search for 27.0. After reading that section you can then go to the various locations that explain how the publisher must segregate, and package the G&D for delivery to the USPO.

If, after reading all that information, you feel you understand the system, reduce you thoughts to 100 words or less and report back here on the forum.

Have a good day,

Agrin

When I worked in Detroit at Chevrolet's central office in the early 90s the USA dealers were broken down into 5 areas of the country for materals that had to be mailed so that all of the dealers in the country could receive the mailing close to the same time. That system worked fairly well but also had it's problems so I guess there is no simple solution.

Hey guys, (& gals too),
In a consultation with Steve K @ the Filling Station we discovered that the steering ball studs sold by the FS actually have the 0.530" dia. shaft that were needed for the '31 steering arm repairs described in the article on pp 20-21. They also have the same profile so the washer and tubing shim used with the off brand studs is not necessary.

It would be nice to document which models/years used the 0.500" and which the 0.530" diameter studs. So far all the ball ends found are 1".

I joined the VCCA Dec.2005.
Unluckily i live in Germany, that means overseas.
So i can be so hopeful to receive my first G&D in
April or May, but in 2006.
My problem in the moment is, that i will get the
registration form for the Anniversary Meet in July not in time, because i believe it is integrated already in the February issue.
Who can tell me what i can do. Flight to Denver
and Hotel in Grand Junction are booked already.

The 2006 Meet registration form will be posted on the www.vcca.org website soon. Our master BillyBoy Barker will post a link when it is available. If you can, please pass the word around the world so everyone that wishes to join us in Grand Junction will have the opportunity.

Send me your email address in a private message and snail mail address if you think I can be trusted, I promise not to pass them around and I will make a photocopy and snailmail it to you while we are waiting for the normal channel gears to shift into granny and the clutch to be released.

I have been coresponding with Otto for several months.Talked him into joining the VCCA and attending the meet.I told him awhile back that I would send him a copy of the meet registration...The on line application will be of assistance to all of us.

Otto was also looking for names of other members in Europe that would be intrested in attending the meet also.We have tried to get help from the various VCCA people with no luck.By the time the new roster is published it may be too late.If any one else from Europe is intrested Email Otto.

I have a copy of the registration form posted on the web now.. but I'm holding off posting the address for a few more minutes. Bruce is working right now to get the form AND the instructions on the VCCA site. If he doesn't make it then I'll release just the Registration form. Standby..... talk :cool2:

Hallo to everybody and thank you for your help.
I am so pleased to achieve so much sympathy and
helpfulness.

I am convinced, i will not only find many wonderful old Chevrolets but also many new "old"
friends.
And i am positive the problem with a roster with
Europeen members will be solved right in time.
Hope instantly finding some more Chevnuts here.
