And the best to you and yours ...LXII BILL
(Maybe I finally got the 42 right?)
Lets see, so 42 would be 50-10+2 L-X+II = XLII ????
How about it some of you Latin and Roman guys that are older than dirt... :) wink

O Kepi is correct on XLII being 42.

The "minus" part goes in front of the bigger number.

40 = 50 - 10. But, as noted, the minus 10 comes first.

XL does indeed equal 40. So, 42 would be XLII, as O Kepi noted.

There's more here IF "you" even care to know more about Roman Numerals.

After all, it was Wacky Macky that 'started' this Roman Numerals stuff. Makes me think JYD is correct in his assessment about 'him.'

XLII Bill, Old JYD isn't so stable, himself, not near as much as one may think!

What would you call Someone that is happily married and hauls a blow-up Elvira around in his soon to be restored cars whilst sucking down Silver Bullets!!!! He! He!, sometimes it takes one to know one!
I wonder if he has ever seen The Easter Bunny????? Probably chases parts cars, fast rabbits and also howls at the moon!
He does all this whilst I am just busy doing my job , here at the Wacky Chevy outfit.
wink :p newangel drinkhere is a fill in the blank for you Roma Novas

Non-perspirus F---s Miniscle! How about a translation also?

I may be Wacky, but I kinda like chaseing rabbits and howling at the moon, and sucking up a couple of Silver Bullets now and then, busting my knuckles and bumping my head under an old Chevrolet also now and then,at least I ain't considered a dull old couch potatoe!
I also ain't afraid of doing a leddle bit of aggitateing now and then either!(as Gabby Hayes often said.)
Let's make some noise! wink laugh

Absolutely True! If you are into old cars and trucks then you are not stable! That includes old "Philosopher Bill" too. And, if you are into old cars and you consider yourself "stable" then you need another hobby! ha ha ! I kill me!

No, Richelle,

It goes something like this...."SIR! I will take charge of this post and all government property in view....."
It has been awhile since I memorized the 12 General Orders for Marines on guard duty, since 1960, to be exact.
EDITED again Richelle...

Thanks for asking, By the way, that is a pictureof your car in your profile...

Actually, XLII Bill,
Jarhead started out as a deroggortory (nice spelling? Eh?) term coined by some other U.S. armed forces personell that were not too fond of U.S. Marines, It referred to their close haircut head, and freshly shaved faces sticking up above the tight "Leatherneck" collar of their U.S. Marine Corps dress blue tunic. It was a likeiness of a common jar of the era...
The Marines turned the pun into a thing they used as a positive term, such as is a common trait of Marines both new and old.....turn a negative into a positive.

That's a neat story. It's always cool to turn a negative into a positive.

Thanks...... You ole Jar Head !!!

Bill.

(Incidentally it MIGHT be "derogatory." Don't know; but that's my guess.)
