Gator, forget it and just say enney, meany, minney, moe, grab a candidate by the toe if he hollors, make him pay $50 dollars every day, my mamma told me to pick this one right here ...

(X)

otherwise you will get a terrible headache, and probably wet the bed.

It may be a good idea to vote even if 'you' don't know any more about the candidate(s) than the thumb-nail sketch in the G and D.

It may be possible that if 'we' don't vote (or not enough people vote) "they'll" just start "appointing" directors and then we won't be able to vote, even if we wanted to!!!

(I don't know anything about "them" 'taking away our "right" to vote' - just a thought.......)

I guess someone "Hi-jacked" October my copy of the G&D for the ballot, and I don't even know for sure who is running! so I probably won't get to vote, I e-mailed J.F. at G&D, Maybe, just maybe.....Heck I would even like to have a "Hanging Chad" ballot, like Ole Gator probably received down in Hurricane Alley Valley.

How about that big change the BOD was going to do here?....something about only VCCA members having access to the Chatter........I wonder?????ZZZZZZZZZZZZ HHUUMMMM ZZZZZZZZZZ Burp! ZZZZZZZZZZ
It's still being worked. We are getting closer and closer to having the capability to do this. We could deploy this as early as January or February next year. Or, if we continue at the current pace, I'd predict that it might not occur until May or June.

It is indeed unfortunate that the Board has decided that no one can campaign. There are real differences in the people who are running for the Board at Large positions. Some are dedicated VCCA people who have and will work hard for the best of all members. Others have not shown the effort in the past and/or have more self-centered reasons to run. It sure would be nice for some of those facts to come out so people could vote with knowledge instead of guessing who is who.

Chipper,I agree with you. Might it be that the Board or Election Committee develope a list of ten questions for the canidate to answer so if they are honest we will know how they think on certain subjects?

Back Roads, That would be a good start....I also would like to see each candidate publish a statement of their proposed agenda or what they think the amplified mission statement and vision of how they believe the club should progress in the next 5 years.

After all we know that they aren't seeking the job because of the paycheck.

Some of us know a couple of the members running for office but not very many of us know all of the candidates running for the at large positions that all of us are expected to pick two new directors from, nor do we know what direction they have in mind for the club to go or changes they believe should be made, during the next couple of years. In the last several elections I have tried to vote for those I know or for candidates from my area of the country, that is a poor way to run a club (IMHO) We are already too polorized on the basis of geography, to be a true national club.

If we had a written record of their goals, then we could expect them to vote on issues according to what they were elected to do, rather than to please or to irritate, their comrades on the BOD.

Chipper has it right IMHO, if my vote is important to the VCCA then they should make more information available on the people running....

How about each person running have a special section on Chatter and all of them answer the same questions from members on Chatter? Or answer some questions in the G&D?

These are the people that will make decisions on things like...closing Chatter to non-members, judging guidelines, where meets are held, when they are held, etc. I would like to know how each of them feel about these issues otherwise I might be voting for someone who has none of my values on these issues.

W/o giving us more information about the people running I get the feeling that maybe the people running the election don't think or feel the election is very important at all or at least it is not important enough to tell us more...I feel like I'm in the dark...maybe that is the way they want it to be...

PS...there are some people here on Chatter that I would love to see on the National Board and I would vote for....because I know how they feel about some of the issues and their values and beliefs and how they would lead the VCCA in the next few years...

Not me! I spent 21 years on the Board and finally gave it up in frustration. Most on the Board are out of touch with the membership. They each have their own ideas and no amount of logic will change it.

I think you are right on the button Chipper. I have never been on the National Board but have been involved in Anniversary Meets as Safety Director, Co-Chair of Tours, Vehicle Awards Chair and was the Awards Coordinator for nine years. After a while it is much more enjoyable to do what you enjoy and let the rest go by and not think about it.

Have a nice day and see you down the Back Roads.

I was pleasantly surprised today to find a hand packed copy of the October G&D in the mail box!

We often forget the really good work some of our National board folks do on a day to day basis. here is a email message I sent to jean Fink, Editor of the G&D...

___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Jean, I want to take this oppurtunity to thank you for your usual good work as Editor of the G&D. I emailed you on Oct. 20 asking you to send a copy of the October issue, since I had not received my copy and was concerned because the ballot for this year's election of At Large Directors was in the issue. The copy you sent arrived today in the U.S. Mail. (We have RFD) which usually takes an extra day. I noticed the postmark was Oct. 20th, the same day as my email message to you.
Thanks for the great job you have done all this time on the G&D.
Mack & Darlene Courtney J 38342.

It would be pretty much impossible to give too much "praise" or too many "thanks" to Dennis and Jean Fink for all they do for the club and all their work on the G and D.

Great folks!

I hope they understand how much "we" appreciate them!!

dance dance dance dance

I agree, the canidates should be required to state their views on a variety of topics in detail. Unfortunately, you get 50 words to say who you are and are instructed in writing from doing any type informative distribution. I am really unsure what I can say here with out being out of line since my name appears on the ballet. I don't see how that is of benifit to the VCCA.

I have just been a memeber and particiated in the club meets and events and had absolutely no real desire to be more than an grass roots member. I thought some things should be addressed and I should run for a place on the board to get some help on some issues. Since all canidates can't do much, I can't say much here. I can say I think it is none productive not to be allowed to expound possitions which a canidate feels is important and is the reason why he/she has put their name up for election.

I most likely have said too much already so I'll go back to garage and work on my vintage Chevys.

Well, by golly, SOMEONE needs to say something about this deal, after all SOME of us do care about the direction the VCCA is headed.

Maybe we can get the attention of the BOD and get something done.

We may need to send in some suggestions for an ammendment to the National Club's By-laws, what do you all think?

Maybe we will get some Guru to start one of those dreaded POLLS?

...but not me, I have an important job, it is :

keeping   JYD confused

.....and also being the chief agitator for this outfit! laugh
