The current Hot Rod mag has a pretty nice article on some of the runners that pioneered some of the hot rod mods that are still used today. Interesting discussions with the guys that were there, including Junior Johnson and some of the many lesser known "participants" of the trade.

The guys still (pardon the pun) have the cars they ran the shine with, many of them (the cars, not the guys) restored, some as they were then. Not a lot of Chevy content, but still engaging.

As long as these guys are alive and willing to talk, someone should get their stories before they are gone forever.

Just a heads up for interested folk....

Hey Jim,

If you have an interest rent the old movie THUNDER ROAD with Robert Mitchum. Its about the runners in Tenn., Virginia and NC area.

Thanks for thought John. Yep, I've got that movie. Really enjoyed it, too.

I just read that article yesterday and it seems to me that there was mention of a moonshine museum being opened somewhere. Kind of funny if you think about it. After all, even though most of this action was going on in the 40s, 50s and 60s, they were running into the 80s!
