I just recieved the inner and outer Federal Mogal seals from the FS The RW -41 Pg 240 FS Cat fits fine in the bearing retainer housing but I was sent the RW- 42 for the inner which is for the 30-31 years It has an ID seal of 1.250 and the old leather seal seams to be about 1.375 the size of the axle. Also with the old seal housing out the OD of the FM seal won't fit in the old retainer housing. My question being has anyone replaced the inner seal and which seal would I need.

Hi Dan,

Do you normally converse with yourself like this on a daily basis?

If so, it may have something to do with antique cars.

Take two parts books and see me in the morning.

Wow, I thought I was having trouble, Trying to find what angle I should cut the cotter pins. Yep I guess It does not matter. My car sits low to the ground and the judges can not get under the car to check. 15, 30, 45 Degrees, I wonder what they did on the assembly line. Oh Ya, I bet they did not care. Yep, maybe this Is a case of over restoring a chevrolet. Now, If I could just chevy get my Bearings straight.  curse flush stressed stressed stressed

OK CHEVY, here is my take on cutting cotter pins, The Factory workers NEVER cut cotter pins, Chevrolet bought them the right length to start with, think about it, that way you don't have: (1) all the waste and disposal problems of the little tennie pieces of cottor pins on the line.

(2) They didn't have to buy several sets of side cutters.

(3) they didn't have to hire extra workers to cut cotter pins.

(4) they only bought the number of pounds of cottor pins that they needed!

(5)You should have learned that when you got your MBA!

(6) I just made all of this up! I don't have an MBA either!

You betcha. Just got back from extended swapping. You guys get out of control when I am not watching. I really enjoyed the start but as usual it drifted too far a field. Now with this one locked you need to open another.
