Please look at:

old thread

I did not know at the time that my wife let the membership lapse. I got mad about what happened and did not renew again.

I miss being a member and know now that I should have handled this better. If the VCCA will allow it, I would like to re-join and either host a new chapter or help one along. We are in Rockland County, NY State on the Bergen County, NJ Border. Thank you! Alan

I see no reason why you can not rejoin and get your original number back.

As far as I know, this club is always looking for 'new' members. I can't imagine 'they' wouldn't be delighted to hear about your interest in 'rejoining.'

Do you need an application?? I could email one to you. I think you can 'click' around in here and get access to one also.

I do believe there is some sorta 'time limit' regarding getting your 'old' number back. I'm not positive about that and I DON'T know what the 'time' factor is.....

I sure hope you 'come back,' Alan!!!

Alan-

I would certainly encourage you to re-join us.

If you are not aware of it, there is a major national Meet happening this coming week and weekend in Vineland, NJ, with details available on the main VCCA website. Several National Board members and the national President will be there, and it would be an excellent opportunity to meet potential members for the possible new Region you have spoken about, and get a real "jump start" to make things happen. Of course, it is also a lot of fun just to attend such a Meet! I'll be there, all the way from Ohio.

I read your earlier string that you linked above. My main reaction was one of sadness. We can so easily mis-communicate with each other, when using email. We have all seen it happen.

I have some reservations about ChevyGene's statement above about getting your original number back. If I correctly understood the earlier string, it sounds like you have not been on the records as "Active" since December 2001 (?).

I believe the policy is that after three years, the original membership number is no longer available to "re-activate." There is a little flexibility, but not much.

Reason (an extreme example, but it HAS happened) - if someone were to join, say, for 3 years - then drop out for 20 years -then rejoin and get their original number back - they would be recognized as a "25 Year Member" 2 years later; and only have been an active member for 5 years! Obviously not fair, and where do you draw the line? This is the reason for the policy.

As a former Director of a Region, I assure you it is very rewarding - also a bit of work. The friends and members we get to know become like family members. The companionship lasts a life time; the rewards of getting the kind of help that is available between members is priceless. After 32 years, I can't imagine life without the VCCA!

If you should come to Vineland, please stop and introduce yourself. I'll have a '33 Coach. John Mahomey that you dealt with in the earlier string will also be there, and he is still the Area Director for your area and would be your proper contact for starting a Region. John is a great guy, and will work very hard to help you, you will enjoy meeting him. He will have a '60 Coupe in Vineland, and I'm sure he would be delighted to meet you, as well.

National Board member

Great, we will look forward to meeting you. Judging at the Show starts at 10 a.m., but most of the cars will be on the show field by 8:00 or 8:30. Cars will start leaving around 3, typically.

I think it's 'neat' when hassles get resolved in a 'nice' way. I'm glad to hear Alan is going to the Meet.

Hey, are you going to drive your 'new' 54 Bel Air sedan???
