The auction ended with a high bid of $13,500 with the reserve not met. That is one rare V-16 engine and it should be worth way more than the high bid.

I once heard about a mid-1930's Duesenburg engine selling for $100,000 and that was about 15 to 20 years ago!

Can't be too many of these out there...maybe the seller should go on some sites that deal with antique/classic Caddies instead of ebay.

an old(now deceased pathologist) who lived a couple miles from our farm bought one of three Bugatti's in the early 50's from briggs cunningham who bought two of the three from bugatti's daughter. they were stored in the storm sewers of paris during ww11 to prevent the germans from abscounding with them. cunningham got the pair from the daughter for two new made in the usa refrigerators. the pathologist is said to have paid about 6k for the Royale in the early 50's. i remember seeing him tool around cumberland in the early 60's. a huge car. he subsequently sold it to harrah who had it on desplay in nevada where the wife and i viewed it in the 70's. after harrah died, it sold for 9 million and has since been resold for more millions. i saw it at the atlantic city auction one winter about 7 years ago. the old pathologist sold it to harrah for 60k and when he learned of it selling in the millions, he was urinated-off.mike
