WELL HERE WE GO AGAIN. I UNDERSTAND THAT SEVERAL DIFFERENT SIZES OF COTTER PINS WERE USED ON THE CHEVYS.IS THERE A LIST FOR THE DIFFERENT YEARS AS TO THE SIZES. I WONDER IF THE JUDGING GOES AS FAR AS CHECKING SIZES AT CERTAIN POINTS ON THE CARS. OR CHECKING TO SEE IF SOMEONE USED STAINLESS COTTER PINS. I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME OTHER MAKES OF CARS ARE JUDGED TO THE POINT, THAT WHEN YOU BEND THE ENDS THEY HAVE TO POINT A CERTAIN WAY????????????? bigl bigl   bigl bigl bigl

Are the proper cotter pins square or round on the end ? In model A judging square ends are right for the era.If your checking nuts and bolts this should be included.

I'm a little late reading your question. I made a list of cotter pin sizes and location when I was doing my roadster chassis several years ago. If you are real serious about showing your car in judged shows, don't use SS. Some judges carry a magnet to check mainly bolts and some repro parts like head light bars, etc.

True, but that depends on the judge, the meet and the geographical location because cars are not judged the same at all meets. :( laugh laugh laugh

THE DAY I WOULD HAVE MY CAR JUDGED AT A VCCA MEET, AND A JUDGE TOOK A MAGNET OUT, THATS THE TIME I WOULD PULL MY CAR OUT AND NEVER HAVE IT JUDGED AGAIN. WHEN I SEE REPLACED RADIATORS ON CARS BEING RESTORED THAT ARE NOT ORIGINALS, OR GRILLS REPLACED IN STAINLESS, BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THE RESTORATION PARTS ARE MADE. AND THEN SOMEONE TELLING ME, OH YOU CANT USE STAINLESS BOLTS OR NUTS, WHICH IS JUST A CHANGE OF WHAT THE MATERIAL IS TO MAKE IT STAINLESS,WELL IN THAT CASE AND THIS IS MY OPINION, THE JUDGING FORMAT NEEDS A OVERHAULING??????????  chevy chevy

Boy howdy! I am really picking up pointers to use when I get to start judgeing Chevys! I hope we get to have a judgeing school so us poor old Texans can join the original and correct world of showing them wonderful old cars.
I just hope I don't have to take off my "blue dots" and my Dixie air horns and my C.B.!
