All of the claims that they are making; what has made them one of the top makers in such a short period of time??

Lucas NASCAR cars, and all of the hype; are their products any different croc

This probably won't advance the discussion...but:
I've always used Pennzoil and changed every 2000-3000 miles. I sold my '65 Corvette with over 250,000 miles on it (not sure the exact mileage since the odometer had been broken for 5 years.)My current '89 Toyota has 201,000 and is still going strong. How much better does an oil need to be?

Did you ever hear of Slick 50? How about STP? How about Amsoil? The list goes on and on and on and on.

Just proves that there is a sucker born every minute and way too many people will believe that the small companies can find automotive products that the large companies can not. Also that there is a conspiracy between the large oil companies and the automakers. At once it was limited to the Big Three. Now it must include all those world wide including Daiwoo.

Anyone for a Yetti, Cubralibre, Loc Ness Monster, UFOs, conspiracy to kill JFK, military/industrial complex or ??????

bob, I really like the Jalapenas. I seem to have aquired a taste for them. I love olives stuffed with them also. I grow some of the hottest ones I have eaten, it must be the soil.
I have thought about running some thru the blender mixing them with some Marvel mystery Oil and trying the mixture on the old Chevrolets, to see if they get a bit more friskey!

Strangely the soil (sandy) also grows the sweetest watermelons you ever slipped between your lips ( chilled and sliced of course.!)

Gator, Most Texicans are more complex than the media indicates! some of us even like to wear shoes and marry women of culture.

Gator, I have had first hand experience with several of their products and had excellent results. laugh they are NOT snake oil products. I have been a school bus fleet mechanic for 25 years and I have seen Lucas products seal p/s leaks, free up valve bodies on auto trans, and the fuel stabilizer is good stuff. It is the only line of additives that I would use or recommend. I don't work for them but I like and will recommend Lucas to anyone. Lucas has been in the h/d truck market for quite a few years.
also this was talked about before in the tow vehicle chat.
This is my opinion and just like belly buttons everyone has one!

I believe that Lucas has gained a good reputaion for their additives to help old seals, especially in the area of automatics.

It didn't stay purple for long. I guess it was just doing its job of attracting dirt, carbon or whatever. :)

A little lacquer thinner in the transmission will also swell the seals. Costs almost nothing, works well and it vaporizes out relatively quickly so lubrication is essentially uneffected. Most transmission and power steering pump "fix it" in a can are solvents that swell elastomers (rubber seals). The problem is how much swelling is enough and how much is too much? The stuff in the can can't tell. I spent many years developing automotive chemicals and others around me did too. We developed a few really good ones but did not have the snake oil salesmen to sell them. The industry referred to most of the products as "mouse milk". Will leave it to you to figure out why.

Glad you have had good experience with Lucas products. Hope that it continues.

So the bottom line for car juices is to use the product line that you have faith in or what your father used, etc. ??

Would like to hear what brand some of you like to use? And would it be ok for everything from '32 to present? Thanks tom32 for your input, how about Chevgene, Chipper, MrMack and the JYD and others with your favorites & why. Does it help to stay with the same brand and not just buy the sale items?

I know some of you have a lot more experience with these items than I do (still can't decide to start using detergent oil in my '32 instead of the non-detergent oil).

MrMack, “shoes”? Not boots? LOL

I don't use any of the additives. Have used fuel stabilizer once and it ate the diaphram of an electric fuel pump so quit. Just clean the carbs when get gunky. Found that it was best to repair versus add "magic in a can".

Use several brands of motor oil depending on the vehicle. Castrol in the Volvo, Shell Rotella in the truck, TSC in the tractor and some old Chevys.
