Heres my 2 cents DONT TREAT ME LIKE A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN just because i own a hot rodded 67 camaro, a non-stock 75 vega an unrestored 27 speedster and I am restoring to as close to original as I can 28 coupe I deserve better from this club When i first tried to join (with non-original car) i was TOLD that the local hot rod club was more to my speed WE DONT WANT YOUR TYPE. Three years later with the purchase of my 28 coupe (and still my hot rodded camaro) I joined and was happily accepted (because of the original car) How Many others have had the same treatment

Who told you "we don't want your type"-don't blame the VCCA for what a local member may have said. Many VCCA members own both stock and modified cars including the present president.
As to only perfect cars being judged......At a typical VCCA meet the majority of the cars being judged are far from perfect. Most cars may have some modifications or incorrect features but the owners want to have them judged in spite of this. Not all strive for or even desire the perfect "trailer queen" car.
At a very recent meet a friend had his 1950 judged. It his a very nice car but has dual carbs. and exhaust on it plus a continentel kit.It still scored enough points to recieve a 2nd junior.Although stock in appearence it was modified ,judged, and every one went away happy.

Yes, Gene, from what I have seen here too many of the forum members, (probably never attended a VCCA tour with a 1951 Chevrolet Pickup Chassis and other less than perfect Chevrolets). They become very defensive , and they really don't need to be, just because they think every VCCA member has a 995 point car and that is the only acceptable car (from all the chatter about what is correct from 1928 engine paint to whether this do-dad is for a 1933 standard or a 1933 master) . Relax fellow Chevrolet fans! We have all types in VCCA and please remember This....We are in a club together because we like to get together with other folks that enjoy having fun with each other while we talk and drive and show off our Vintage Chevrolets from 1911 thru 1979 and we often arrive at the event in "Modern Iron" because we only have a project car at home, or maybe just a desire for a Vintage Chevrolet. We like to gather and have fun and good food!...OH!, Where do we go for Ice cream?

some people get different messages from the same people. when i found vcca chat i had more people than i know who invited me to join, saying that owning a vintage car was not neccessary. the vcca just wanted people who were interested in old chevys. i have found this to be true in most vintage car clubs. the model a **** club extended an invitation to me to join with my 1928 chevy which i happily accepted. i love old cars and love talking to old car people. this is what i hope vcca and other vintage car clubs stress instead of just judging and compititions

This is what I love about the VCCA, one day we deplore Street Rods, Modifids and the people who own them and think everyone should own an old car "just like it came from the dealer".Two days later we love all old cars and the people who own them.
Happy motoring, dandyd

Yeah, dandyd you are not the only one that noticed the "flip-flop" along these 3 pages. It went from "maybe we should..." to "NOT IN MY BACKYARD"..." to yeah, it happens all the time"...??? Just goes to show ya we ALL should be back in the garage and not on the computer! Have a nice week all, I'm going on vacation!

The VCCA is "Dedicated to the Preservation and restoration of Chevrolets"--they state that very well in the G&D.That dosen't mean that members don't like to see "street rods" etc.In fact when they do show up at a meet they always recieve lots of attention.Just that they don't qualify for judging.-----WHY WOULD ANYONE JOIN A CLUB THAT DOSEN'T FIT THEIR NEEDS AND THEN COMPLAIN LATER?-Its no secret as to what the club is intended for--I wouldn't join a Buick club and complain that they don't recognize my Chevrolet.

absolutly right chev nut. but at the same time dont you appreciate the effort and skill some of those people use to get their cars in the shape that suits them? i do. for myself, i like as original as possible. but i thank god all people do not have the same interests and wants. that leaves more romm wherever i wanta be or do.

What I noticed is no matter what you have to say someone decides what you mean is what they wantit to mean, then after repeating your point several times they decide you flip-floped. Also every time we try to have a discussion about recruiting new members it becomes a discussion of what cars are judged, what cars should not be judged, etc.etc. I never had one of my cars judged by a VCCA judging team and from what I have seen and heard, it will be a cold day in hell before I do! But there is so much more to VCCA than a few ego-maniacs that think that their gig is the only thing to VCCA. Loosen up, get a life !

Yes, I do appreciate the work involved.Often much more work and engineering is done than any "stocker" ever did. Also a car that is too far gone to restore is reborn as a rod.GREAT-and us restorers are thankful for the patrs removed and sold to us.There is no shortage of cars out there either - enough for all of us. MrMack-Thats why the tours have become so popular...many have found that driving the cars is a lot more fun than judging. PS-I did judge your '53 while in Branson-so you have had a car judged
