Happy New Year to all. I just wanted to let everyone know that 1981 Chevys are now eligible for Class Judging and HPOCF Certification. This also means that 1982 and 1983 vehicles will be eligible for display only at National Meets, including the Anniversary Meet. There are some interesting facts about these years. The '81 Camaro will be the last year for the second generation model which came out in 1970. The '82 Camaro can be on display as well as the '83. These are the third generation models. The Celebrity became available in 1982. There is a very rare Celebrity VR series that will be very interesting to see when the 1988 and 1989s are in. We feel the Celebrity will fall in the Z5 class along with the Citation.Any Z11s out there? The Malibu continues in just the 4dr. Sedan and the wagon in AA5 until 1983. Perhaps the Celebrity should stay in class AA since it is the replacement for the Malibu? The 4th Gen. Corvette will end with the 1982 models. There will be no 1983 Corvettes. They were not EPA certified and those produced were destroyed. Just wanted to keep you all informed. Thanks, Does anyone have a story or picture or some interesting facts about these vehicles? Post them on this topic. We'd like to see them.

Correction, the 1982 Corvette was the end of the 3rd generation Corvettes and not the 4th as listed. The 1984 through 1996 models were the 4th generation Vettes.

oldie: you are correct in that the 68 thru 82 corvettes are considered 3rd gen vettes. i missed steve's mistake. c-1 are 1953-62, c-2 anr 1963-67, c-3 are 68-82, c-4 are 84 thru 96. i don't care enough about the c-5 and c-6 to know the year cut-offs. regards, mike

That's right Oldie, "my bad" as they say now. Mike I wasn't aware that an '83 was on display. I would like to go there some day. Have you guys seen the ZO6 yet? What a car! John Harvey, thanks for the Monte info.

In addition,
In 1983, the Monte Carlo SS model returned! It was the first SS model since 1971.
Monte SS's available: 1970 1971 1983 - 1988
They returned again in the 2000's...... but we will address that in about 17 years!

I still have a few years before I can dust mine off and bring it to a meet, but I'm looking forward to it! Thanks for providing an outlet for the newer Chevs at the meets!
