What is the best method for securing split rivets in hoodlace on my 25 Sup K? Is there a specific tool?

Thanks.

Small screwdriver, knife blade, chisel, or other thin piece of metal to get the legs to split open. Once they are about 1/2 way open then a pair of pliers to crimp them flat. Some duct tape on the pliers will keep them from marking the rivet heads.
