Was there a luggage rack for '32 cars that attached under the spare in the rear?

How can you tell an original luggage rack for a '32?

A luggage rack came along with a lot of other parts with my car and I don't know what it fits.

Hi Gator: There was no genuine Chevrolet accessory luggage rack that attached under the spare tire. There have been many 1932 luggage rack discussions on Chevy Chatter in the past regarding the correct luggage racks, so you can do a search to find the previous discussions. Going into this subject again would be redundant.

Also, you can order a 1932 accessory catalog from the Filling Station if you don't have one, and it will show you what the two correct accessory luggage racks look like for 1932.

Thanks JYD, since its' 'no' I guess I have a complete folding luggage rack that I can't use.

I will use it as a test item for that electrolysis rust removal system.

I have read all of the strings under 'luggage rack'; now I just need to find my '32 accessory booklet.

So you figure this flyonthewall guy is also louie chevrolet?? And that louie is also the guy that used to go by gator??

Is that "legal" or whatever you'd call it??

Seems like Bill Barker could get Chevy Chat to 10,000, maybe even 15,000, members in a real hurry if everybody did that.....

xlii,

don't think that it'll be a real problem...besides, if this site becomes vcca members only, then I would imagine that each vcca number would be eligible for one (or at least a limited number) account...

Well guys since "Gator" "Bill 42", "JYD" and "MrMack" are just handles.

Most anyone can be anything they want to be... I was thinking about becomeing a "SomeOneElse, or even maybe a "NoBodyElse"

Anyway,... It should not be something to worry our silly old selves about, it will just strain and stress your old B.B. Brains!

It is a lot of trouble setting up another handle besides, I got cars to work on, places to go and people to see!

You all take care now and take it easy on pore old Gator, Tator,"Who'sit" and "Me & MrMagoo"!

I don't know why " [/QB]
" attached itself to my post above, but everytime I tried to cut the " [/QB]
" another post appeared. Maybe Bill can figure it out.

PS. I don't know who in the heck "FlyOnTheWall" is but I expect you will hear from him.

If you pay attention to the "who's on line" you will notice that "Louis C" and "FlyOnTheWall" are on line sometimes at the same time; I never have figured out how to be in 2 places at the same time (and still be alive).

I found this rack picture on Bill's '32 site and this is the rack that I have, is it correct and if it is, what models would it go on?

Gator: Yes, that is the correct 1932 accessory folding rack. If you ever find your accessory catalog you can compare the rack featured in that booklet with the rack in the photo that you posted.

As far as what models the folding rack fits, again, there has been considerable discussion on this in the past. However, basically the folding rack was used on all coupe, cabriolet and roadster models. But, since this was a dealer accessory, if the customer so desired this same rack could be installed on sedan and coach models as well, even though the extension luggage carrier and rack were intended for use on those models.

By the way, being on line with two different user names at the same time is easy.......especially if you have two computers! bigl bigl bigl bigl

I noticed on Bill's '31 site that the '31 racks looked like the same as the '32, is that correct?

JYD, maybe some guys on Chatter can afford 2 computers and 2 separate phone lines, but sadly I am not one of them, and I have no desire to have 2, 1 is more than enough for me to deal with.

Gator: The 1931 and 1932 folding luggage racks are the same.

Hum....maybe you don't have two computers but you sure can have two different browers on the same computer. wink laugh laugh laugh bigl bigl bigl

Thanks for the info JYD, is the rack ok for any other years?

No, I don't think you can. If the web address for both is the same the computer will not let you do that.

Hey Gator: Yes, the rack fits other years as well.

Hum......maybe my computer isn't smart enough to know that it can't do that....because two different user names will work with two different browsers. bigl bigl bigl bigl

Thanks, what years? I am going to clean this one up and see if someone on Chatter wants it so I need to know what years it will fit.

Anyone have a source for the laundry or washing soda? I can't find it at the normal places, Lowes, Home depot, wal-mart, etc. Hope baking soda works just as well.

That is what you need!! Arm & Hammer Baking soda. It is what I use. It works great. If you use hot water it works even faster.

Thanks Steve, I got some big boxes of A&H baking soda at wal-mart today; going to set up the 'bath' for rust removal tomorrow.

I am going to set it up outside uncovered with the charger protected from rain.

After reading the articles on this process on the web I noticed that some use 2x4 to attach the rebar to and some use metal, does it make much of a difference?

Thanks
