I have a book called "Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual" 1948-1951. It's brown with yellow letters. Very good details and photos. It list tools recommended for various chores. My question is this, can I buy these tools anywhere?
Thanks

I'm assuming all the tools were Kent-Moore? These items end up on eBay occasionally.

Thanks Ray,
Don't see any mention of Kent Moore. What is Kent's Ebay screen name? I'll search it. I didn't mention that this book is a reprint of the original and it is a Chevrolet Motor Division/ General Motors publication. My question should have been, Is there a GM web site or authorized dealer that sells these original tools? An example tool listing looks like this. J-2222 Wheel bearing nut wrench. This was listed under 3/4 and 1 ton rear axle special tools.
The book has photos of all these tools so, I'm thinking I can make some my self but it would be more time effective to part with some cash and get the job done.

Kent Moore is the name of the company that supplied tools to GM dealerships for years(i have several corvette tools that date to the 50's.) wife's uncle worked for them, on the road, going to various chevy dealers and taking the dealers old , no longer needed tools and that's how i ended up with a small collection of kent moore tools. don't know if they are still in buisness. i have one of their catalogs that dates to the 50's . hollar if you'd like me to look up a tool. also have a pair of metal cabnets, about 3' wide and 6' tall. they have the kent moore logo on their doors. came from local chevy dealer. regards, mike

Kent Moore from Roseville,Mi is still in business and still supplies the special tools for GM...The KM company has been purchased by SPX but still operates under the KM name. They do not sell to the general public ,are very expensive and dealers usually don't sell/order the tools for sales to the general public.I will check the tool in the 1952 truck shop manual,if its an axle nut socket it may fit later trucks and be available from other suppliers. Will research this for you

The tool is still available although it come just as a socket and no bar going thru it.Its turned with a 1/2" drive ratchet.

OTC is a relative of KM.They sell the socket under #1929.It fits 1946-2005 trucks with a 5200 or 7200 pound rear axle. The tool is also sold under #AN1929 bu Matco tool distributors and the same number , but different letters, by Mac and Snap-on dealers. If you see one of the above trucks at a dealership or service station check with the driver as he may have one in stock.I could sell you one but there would be shipping charges involved. wink

Yep....I see KMO on some of the part number prefixes. Must be Kent Moore. I'm looking for either a KMO-312.1 King pin bushing reamer(.020 over) or perhaps a KMO-226-1 (.010 over) and a J-3057 King pin reamer (.923) Also, if anyone has a K-318 King pin bushing driver and is willing to measure the dia of each step and the length of the steps, I'll make my own. I'll also consider buying or renting the tool.
Thanks for the valuable info.
