I got this thing called the "RETLIF economy oil filter adapter plates" It consists of a upper & lower oil filter plate with 3 different size springs, and you use.........get this....a roll of toliet paper for the filter element! Now thats ECONOMY!!! It was in a box of parts I recently purchased. Any of you OL Timers remember these???    Fleet47

Yes, and a similar device was used on air compressor lines to filter the air lines of water and oil when painting.
