CHEVY, I have one that I restored for my wife ( she is in charge of the tire changeing and fixin' dept.) It is a Goldenrod brand and is the original for most cars, and Chevrolets in patricular, It has a wooden handle and a rubber hose with a thingy that screws on to the valve stem, then you put the base on the ground, or floor if you are inside, hardly ever, and place your foot, right foot if right footed,on a deal that sticks out from the base of the pump, then strock the pump handle up and down a full stroke ( about 17.875 Inches) quickly untill the tire is either inflated or you are exhausted., basically that is it.........

PS
You will probably want one because the thingey on the end of the hose is kinda' like a small socket!

HEY MACKY WACKIE, WAS THE TIRE PUMP PAINTED BLACK ORIGINALLY? I WOULD THINK THAT THE WOODEN HANDLE WOULD OF BEEN LEFT THE WOOD COLOR? I ALSO WONDER IF THE TIRE PUMP WAS THE SAME FROM THE EARLY TEENS CLEAR UP THROUGH THE YEARS UNTIL, WHEN DID CHEVY CHANGE TO ANOTHER TIRE PUMP????? :) :)  :) :)

Yes to both natural wood and black for the barrel, the ends were natural potmetal, however since I was doing it for MrsMack I did the barrel in gold paint ( to accentuate the name Goldenrod) and left the wood natural after sanding it smooth, It is a combination that does not clash with the black rubber hose.

There were several tire or tyre (for our Northern or upside down friends) pumps. The early ones for high pressure tires (up to late 20s) were two cylinder to produce the 75-80 psi required. Later they used single cylinder pumps. At least two manufacturers and two sizes. If you will order the tool book from either David Minor or Ray Lemasters they have illustrations for most of the tools. They are working on adding more tools all the time. Research continues and you can help by letting us know what tools you have in your Chevy that you think are original. Photos help. If you can't get in touch with either of the tool guys I can pass it along.

Gator: They have email addresses. Go to the VCCA web site, left click on "Technical Acvisors" and then left click on "Tools" . Then click on their names and their email addresses will come up. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Doggie, Thanks for the clarification. I guess I assumed that Gator would know to go to the website and click on the names. I was trying to be careful and not give members only services to non-members.

Ya, no problem! I knew that Gator was a VCCA member so that's why I sent him to the VCCA TA page. However, I still think that a member's VCCA number or a password registered with the VCCA should have to be entered first before accessing the TA's since that function is supposed to be for VCCA members only. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hello Gator:

My website for Chevrolet tools is:

www.geocities.com/chevrolet1940coupe/

It doesn't have all of my tools listed as of yet. My tool booklet has alot more. I just don't find enough time to upload more info onto the website. Maybe I will do it when there is a foot of snow on the ground here in Canton, OH
