I just installed the radio in my 62 biscayne that I have been restoring. It is an original delco pushbutton that I took out of a 62 Impala. (I replaced the original manual tunning radio) My problem is that there seems to be too much clearence between the dash and the tone control, and the "dummy" knob on the tunning side. There is almost an eigth inch gap between the surface of the dash and where the knob bottoms out. I have an old junker radio in th shop and took it apart and the does not seem to be any in or out adjustment for the volume control and tunner control. Were the controls set up different for the Impala's to allow for the thickness of the dash trim? I have never had a lower line model of these cars with a radio in it. I can't find any mention in the accessories installation manual for a shim or adjustment. I just can't believe that there would be that much difference. I think if I place another set of nuts on the controls that mount to the backside of the dash will help cure this, but was this a common fix? Any help please
(PS Ray this was the radio I sent to you, the speaker looks real good! thanks again)
Thanks, John Mahoney

Hi John,

I think you have two problems. The solution to the 'protrusion' is as you have guessed. That is, place the second set of nuts on the shafts and set to the depth that allows the outer nuts to be installed. However, on the volume control side, that extra space is filled by a special 'cup'. This cup only fits the '61/62 radios.

I will email you installation instructions within the next 24 hours.
