Don Sommer of American Arrow Custom Accessories makes brand new, absolutely awesome Chevrolet Sportlights. They are very expensive but better than new old stock. He also sells parts and Sportlight brackets as well. His phone number is: 248/435-6115. He is located in Michigan.

What is a sportlite ? Is that the light I have inside my spare tire in the back that pivits up and down?

Ha ha! Nope....that's a backup light! ha ha! laugh

A "Sportlight" is the 5 1/2" accessory spotlight, with the Chevrolet emblem, that is mounted to the left front door post, and is controlled from the inside of the car. This is a genuine Chevrolet accessory that was available in 1930 and up. wink bigl

Is this the same as a "cop light" ? A hand controlled pivoting searchlight that is mounted thru the A pillar? I acquired one 2nd hand but need brackets to mount it on my '71 Jimmy.

Yes, a "Sportlight" is the same as a search light that is used on police cars. They are a neat accessory used in 1930 and up, but without the original installation template for locating the holes, they are a nightmare to install on the 1930-32 Chevrolets. mad laugh

Thanks for the info. I called Don Sommers and left a mssg. He called me back and is searching for some '67/'72 A-pillar brackets. He said they might be "expensive," however.
They had a similar thread on the stovebolters site. Kanter's carries the Unity lights for about $130, brackets are $25 each.

Hey Donald! How would you know which way my car was facing since you had all that Budweiser?

Macky Wacky! No, Elvira did not have her hand on the spotlight....her hand was on......hum, oh well, never mind...ya wouldn't believe it anyway! By the way, I figured that car behind me was you because oil was leaking from the mains and we know that Chipper's car doesn't leak a drop....so it had to be you! Ya!   laugh laugh
