Mr. Mack: I'm sure your 68 drives just fine with the 14 inch wheels and radials. As I recall mine did also. I guess you'd say the 'main' reason I put the 15 inch (by 7 wide) Rally wheels was for looks. The P 235 75R 15's were Suburban take offs. I like the 'old' 75's or the current 70's. I like some sidewall. I'm not much on 60's, let alone 50's or even less on the 'old' cars. To me they just look 'silly.' It is interesting that early 90's Suburbans had tires that small. Of course the ultimate too 'small' of tires would be the 670-15's that came on a 1967 427 / 435 horse Corvette. How in the world could anybody keep that car on the ground AND going straight?!?!?

As for the 'looks' - I think it made the car look bigger. And, those wheels and tires 'filled up' the wheel wells. It really did look good. I never heard any 'complaints' about how they looked and many guys said they looked good/great.

I suppose there's something to be said for having a bit more rubber on the road too.

I've been trying to 'learn' how to put up a picture of the car tonight and I can't figure it out. So I'm posting this here and I'll email the pic directly to you. Presuming you know how, you can post it or not. It's up to you.

Bill.

Of course on the other side of the fence, the word 'challenged' comes to mind.

My 2 cents is I just purchased a 41 coupe with Bias tires and have driven it on the freeqways wetc. and while it may move a we bit from the tires it is NOT at all like I had heard from other folks.

Happy Motoring

Since I already have a set of radials on the car now I was thinking of having 2 sets of tires; one set (radials) for driving distances and one set (bias) for the shows.

That is why I am looking for a set of wheels (5) to mount my current radials on...this way I can use the original wheels & wheel covers for the 7.50X14" tires.

Bill, use the Chatter search feature and do a search for the old posts that gave detailed instructions/directions on how to post a picture on Chatter, hopefully it will be helpful to you and others who want to post pics here.

Good Luck...

Hey Gator. Do like I did. I have five radial tires mounted on the original 14 Inch 1957 wheels. I left them on and bought five 14 Inch wheels for the Bias Ply tires. Look at buying five 14 Inch correct wheels for your Bias Ply tires. They are around and sometimes they come up on Ebay. Why take your radial tires off and then have to remount them again???????????.Just find five original 14 Inch wheels for your Bias Ply tires. Check with Bow Tie or Classic Chevy International In florida. chevy

I just got back from a weekend 500 mile tour with the Tri Five Chevy club and It was a fun trip. This was the first trip with the front sway bar on the car. We traveled on good and bad roads during our trip. The handling of the car was flawless and I have to say that the Bias-Ply tires along with the front sway bar on the 57 chevy, Made a real fun trip for us. There was sixteen Tri Five cars on the trip and we were the highlight of the huge parade on saturday,. At the Rhodendron parade In Port Townsend Washington. There was probably forty to fifty thousand people who were on the sidelines watching. We went by one of the grandstands and there was a goodsized group hollering as we went by, Chevys Forever, Chevys Forever, As It turned out, They were a Corvette club who came for the weekend get together. Bottom line, Touring and being with your friends, Is what It Is all about.

Don:

Who could have said it better??

"Bottom line, Touring and being with your friends, Is what It Is all about."

Give a rip about bias ply vs radials..... what it's really all about is the fun of it (as you described).

Altho I still like radials best!!! :) Bill.

Well, you guys got the CRS part.

Now on to MM's question about the picture of the '68.....

I think I finally got one through to you a while back. A couple of months ago.

But you can see one anytime you want by just clicking on the URL under my posts.....

Or by clicking on my name "42bill" at the 'top left corner' of one of my posts.....

John, There's no question in my mind that 'we' do this for the 'fun' that's in it. Why the he!l else would we 'do' it?????

I do know how to email pix if you'd like to see some more.....
