How do I find the correct factory color for a Chevy 250 in a 1966 truck? I have the original motor and know it was a blue or green, but can't tell which, and\or the name of the color.
Is there a good reference manual for such things. I have the assembley manual and shop manual, but they don't give that kind of info.

Whew, I searched engine paint and engine color and found an extremely large amount of info on a 28 model, but I'm missing something in my search if there is info later than that.

Thanks guys, I'm going to go with blue. The chart shows blue for a 230 truck in 66 and I think they quit using the 230 and went to the 250 that year. So....I'll use that. Now, GM or Chevrolet Blue. Oh my!

Well now I have little kink in my plan. I had a guy who wsa an engineer at Gm in 1966 tell me the truck motors(250) were not blue, but greenish blue, which is closre to matching the paint that is under the grease! I have now found a few vendors that offer a green that is said to be for the 250 that is essentially the same green that was on a 327 in the truck that year. Some say it has to do with both motors being offered i the truck for the first time that year. They seem to be very adamant about the literature being wrong.
Any ideas?
Also, I'm interested n joining the VCCA and making my truck aas close to original as I can, but I fear the members for trucks will be more of the 30's-40's. Any comments on that topic would be aprreciated as well.

Comments as to the owners being in 30s and 40s. I suspect that there are many members in VCCA that have or are working on the advance cab models 48- 55 and also the later 55 second series thru 59 also the sixties thru the 74 model years seem popular. Let's hear from some of those 75 thru 81 Chevrolet truck owners. I wish I had of kept my 1976 4x4 Surburban (400 sb with a 350 Thurbo. I traded it in 1995 not even thinking about it becomeing a "Vintage" truck.
