I need to remove the steering shaft from my 1966 Chevy truck. Other than removal of connection at gear box and the steering wheel, is there anything else to keep it from coming out?
It is a three speed on the column.

There maybe a circlip around the steer shaft that holds the outer casing / gearshift top in place.
I am not familiar with the US setup but the Aus version has a spring and circlip that hold the steer shaft top bearing and the top of gearshift tube in place, otherwise I think the outer sleeve and gearshift should slide off.
I wont be offened if someone else has better information.
