I remember reading an article about the paint on early Chevy trucks that said that the whole entire cab, inside and out, was painted the exterior color. Looking around in my gutted cab for my '39, I realized that everything inside was blue, but the inside of the firewall (the area where that hump is for the engine) which was the interior brownish-green color. The truck was never repainted. Did GM paint everything exterior color but the inside of the firewall?

The 1939"Chevrolet Engineering Features" book, available from ...fillingstation.com for $15.00 lists the interior as "A smooth thunder gray enamel finish on the metal through out the cab interior".I believe one exception would be that the steering wheel and the steering outter mast jacket is black. Also not sure what thunder gray looks like but would guess a medium dark gray.
