What size tires should I use on my '39 ton and a half pickup? The 7.00x20 tires are EXPENSIVE. I heard that bigger tires fill in the fenders better, but would they be OK for a dually pickup? Any suggestions?

A friend of mine had a 57 3 ton originally had 7.00x20 and found 7.50x20 fitted nicely onto the stock rims, and more readily available here in Aus. He was not into show trucks just use for what they were built for.

On the 37s, the 7.00 X 20s start to rub the front fender when cornering so I have to use 6.50. The 7.50s should fit easily on the rear of a double unit open express. You might even squeeze an 8.25 under the fender. .
. If you have Duals, be sure there is a half inch of clearance between the tires. If the side walls touch at bottom dead center, this will quickly cause sidewall failure.
. Good Luck

Thanks a lot. By the way, where did you get the 6.50s and 7.50s? Bob

Hi Bob,
While driving to LA a few years ago, a recap came off my right front tire near Fresno. I slowed down and got 2 new 6.50s at:
Lucas Tires, 2850 Temple Ave, Long Beach, Ca. 90806, 800-952-4333. .
I've heard that Kelsey Tire also carries that size: www.kelseytire.com/collectorw.htm . .
I believe that Coker Tire is closer to you. They are well advertised but I don't have their address handy.
. . Lou
