Is the 3 speed column shift trans from a 1953 Chev car the exact same transmission in the 3 speed column shift 49-53 Chev trucks?

Too bad! I had a chance to get a beautiful rebuilt 53 from a car for next to nothing. I need it for my truck.

I believe the truck 3-speed is made to be the same length as the 4-speed for easy interchange and simplicity in manufacturing. Gosh, it's been a long time since a manufacturer gave a hoot about either of those features. Mike

Yeh, I rebuilt the transmission in my 46 truck with parts from a 53 car. Just make sure all the gears you are going to use match.
