Do you have to put any sealer around the edges of freeze plugs before you press them in?

You do not "have to" but a thin film of #2 Permatex would do no harm.

Ok thanks. I just punded them in and used some high temp. sealer on them.

If you were smart you would have used brass plugs so they do not rust. Most parts stores carry freeze plugs in convex with no shoulder, convex with a shoulder and brass in both styles. You have to pick and choose on the shoulder/no shoulder ones as they are not interchangeable.

agree with ray on the brass freeze plugs, plus you get the added feature in that the moroso brass plugs are not mfgr logo'd as are most aftermarket plugs and originals had no mfgr logos. simply glass bead the exposed surface of the moroso brass plugs before installation so they'll hold engine paint.
