Hello everyone!! Long time no see!! I am about to purchase another flatbed along with my 46. I took some numbers off of it and was trying to see the exact year and any other information available. I believe this truck is a ton and a half with a 216.

A VB is a 1939 1 1/2 ton 133" wheel base with dual rear wheels.Do not find a 839931 block casting number.838941 is the 1939 block casting number.

Ok, so they made a 39 body the same as a 41-46? I have a 46 pickup and this truck is the same cab just a flatbed.

The bodies looked somewhat alike but were not the same. The 1941-46 were the same. The 1939 had round instruments and the 1940 and up retangular.

I'm running into alittle bit of a jaw dropper here. A 1939 should have the headlights mounted on the sides of the hood and not on the top of the fenders, correct? I looked at the registration papers on this truck and the VIN matches to the VB code. Here is a picture of what this truck looks like. ![[Linked Image from stovebolt.com]](http://www.stovebolt.com/images/riemann42.jpg)

Oh-Thats different----its a 1941-46 design. The 1946 has the door lock cylinder below the handle-earlier had it in the handle.1944-45 had leather hood corner bumpers-others rubber. From the lack of chrome looks like it could be a 1942-early 1946.Early had a three piece parking light later a one piece......Looks like a 2 ton job buy the large wheel cut-outs in the front fenders and what appear to be 8.25 tires.Bet it also has a 235 high side cover 1941-49 engine.Check serial number again.
1942 thru 1946 235 has block casting number 839751-recheck that also.

Sorry about that, that picture is not the truck I have. I just posted that picture of another guys truck because mine looks like that body style. The truck I have has a small silver plate that has VB 56S130852 on it. On the black plate under the hood it says Model # 8MS43. The block number is 839931. The gauges are rectangular with a speedo that is like a half moon. The plate also says Master 4265 or 426S I'm not sure. The weird thing is why is this truck coded VB and the registration says 1942. I'm at a loss.

If the dash is like this it should be a 1941-46 truck. Block number 839931 is very elusive. Haven't located it yet.

Found the 839931 casting number--its another number for 1942-49 235.Found at least three different casting numbers for that engine.

Kool, I believe I have a 1942 ton and a half with a 235. This truck was purchased new for ricefield work to haul grain to the dryer. It is in really bad shape. Front windshield is gone and it has rust through the body in places. Do you happen to know a value on a truck like this is poor condition?

A dude down the road from me purchased a Chevy truck just like you described last year at an estate auction. The truck (it is either a 1941 or a 1942) is in poor condition, but it does have the windshield and etc. He paid $50 for it and he is going to put the truck out in his front yard and make it into a planter box.

Thanks for the compliment, but I did not do the restoration on that truck. Knowing the restoration shop that did do the truck I would guess they mixed it in their own paint shop. The restoration was done so long ago that very few items were available to assist in restorations.
