I am trying to match the original color to repaint my '53 3100 truck. I've done some research, but during that year there must have been 15 colors and mine could be any one of four, based on the names. My truck is turquois. What is listed for that year that might be the color are a surf green, mariner blue, ocean green, and regatta blue.
If you know where there is a color chip page, that would be great. I realize that every monitor displays differently, but I think I could differentiate online well enough to get the right paint.

The truck colors offered in 1953 are Juniper green(the standard dark green color),Ocean Green (my guess its the turquios you want),Transport blue (a medium blue),Burgandy maroon,Coppertone,Autumn brown, Yukon Yellow,Commercial Red,Jet Black,Mariner blue (dark), and cream medium. The Surf Green and Regatta Blue you mentioned are passenger car colors (sedan delivery also).
Spanky-Thats a beauty.Is it Ocean Green???

If you go to the autocolor library and search on Chevy trucks, you won't find anything listed before 1957. However, if you go to just Chevrolet and look at 1954, there is a chart for the 1951-1954 Commercial (trucks) colors. http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/search/searchpic.pl?1954-chevrolet-pg04.jpg

I have a 1953 Truck "duco" paint color chart. Looks like you need a combination number off the data plate (firewall?) to get the correct color. I would loan or sell this chart, or try to take a picture of it. Let me know via email <rbholz@juno.com> Ron

The VIN plate on AD trucks had no reference to color avaliablilty & the plate was not mounted on the firewall. The best bet is to peel one of the front fenders back from the cab. You will find the original factory color under there. Take a chunk of that paint to your local paint guys so they can match it. Warning ! some of the original colors were ugly & you may decide against the original color. You can use this site- http://www.skinnermagic.com/truck/color/blacktruck.html To decide on a new color.

Thanks so much, everyone. Spanky, that truck picture site you sent me to is absolutely fabulous and that beautiful baby does seem to be the color I wanted.
